I'll add a second show if you really want to get into politics -The West Wing (Peacock). An absolutely fantastic example of how the executive branch works and the chaos of leadership (one of my favorite shows in middle school & high school). Won tons of Emmys in the late 1990s and 2000s - 8 seasons total. 

Book: The Past Is Red by Catherynne Valente (my epic, amazing cousin!). The uber wealthy leave to colonize Mars, Earth becomes a trash planet, climate change wins, & everyone left behind is just trying to exist. I dont't have a particular book that I recommend, but I do like the percy jackson series and hunger games series.
