Objective 1:
To strengthen a culture of inclusion and integration for students with a migrant background and newly arrived learners, through targeted teacher training courses and job shadowing experiences.

Objective 2:
To deepen and develop teachers’ competences in the use of debate as a teaching method, particularly in the context of Civic Education.

Objective 3:
To provide more effective preparation in order to improve students’ performance in national and international standardized assessments (INVALSI, OECD PISA, language certifications) as well as in final State examinations.

Objective 4:
To explore the educational potential of the digital world in an inclusive way: "A 'guided tour' through the digital world, balancing usefulness, creativity, and critical awareness."

Objective 5:
To raise awareness of human rights issues in multicultural and multilingual contexts through creative approaches.

The current institute comes from 4 originally separate schools unified recently.
205-2026: 788 students

Some historical facts:
1923: Classical High School “Carducci” established.
1964–70: “Rosmini” teacher-training institute created → later merged with Carducci (1995/96) and transformed into a socio-psychological high school.
1972–78: Scientific High School founded and becomes autonomous.
1997/98: All three schools share one site and staff in Merano.
2003/04: Linguistic high school section added.
1953–1961: Technical Commercial Institute “Pisano” created → merged in 2006.
2011: A school Reform leads to 6 study tracks (classical, linguistic, scientific, applied sciences, human sciences, economic).
2012: Final name adopted: “Gandhi” Secondary Education Institute (Merano).
