Momotaro: Divine Sea Warriors was the first feature-length film in Japan. The plot of this Anime was a bear cub, monkey, pheasant, and puppy complete naval training and say goodbye to their families. They all go off becoming high-ranked officials who negotiate the British to surrender Celebes and the surrounding islands to Japanese rule. It seems to be that the director Seo made this to give dreams to children and install peace in people.

Citation: “Momotaro: Sacred Sailors.” Wikipedia, Wikimedia Foundation, 10 July 2021, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Momotaro:_Sacred_Sailors.

The Second World War started in the 30's and carried over into the 40's. World War 2 started when Hitler invaded Poland. Other major events of the Second World War would be the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, and the 2 catastrophic atomic bombs that shortly lead up to the ending of WW2. During this World War, Anime was urged to produce animations that enforced Japanese spirit and national affiliation. This event still impacts Anime today as it has inspired several animations to revolve around these tragic events and write a story.

Citation: “History of Anime.” Wikipedia, Wikimedia Foundation, 27 Aug. 2021, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_anime#During_the_second_World_War.

The American Occupation of Japan was a time just after World War 2, and was dealing with forced demilitarization and the aftermath of the two atomic bombs. This affected million of people in different ways, and not just those in Japan. But those who were in Japan were punished and was an attempt as a reform in Japan. This affected Anime as well as many Anime's weren't released in Japan shortly after WW2. There are few that were but none leaving significant impact or still around today.

In 1947 during the period considered The American Occupation of Japan, a new Constitution comes into effect. This creates a new parliament system allowing all adults to vote. Japan also renounces war and to not maintain land. There was also a ceremonial status granted to the Emperor. This would help set Japan for success in it's restructured Constitution, allowing them to form treay's in the future and form peace.

Citation: “Japan Profile - Timeline.” BBC News, BBC, 26 Apr. 2019, www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-pacific-15219730.

Although there isn't many animes still around today in the late 1940's I found this one after lots of research. Doubutsu Dai Yakyuu Sen is an Anime based upon animals playing baseball. There were two teams one team was full of gorillas and the other was with a variety of other animals. The only other information I can find on this short film was that the gorillas dominated in the game and beat the other animals with ease.

Citation: “Doubutsu Dai Yakyuu Sen.” MyAnimeList.net, myanimelist.net/anime/27577/Doubutsu_Dai_Yakyuu_Sen.
