My name is Erin and I am one of the tutors on this course.

I have been a teacher for many years in many places, including, Tokyo, Prague and Nottingham. In 2013, I trained to become a CELTA trainer and I've been doing it ever since. I really enjoy teacher training as I get to meet lots of new people at interesting points in their lives. It's very rewarding to see the progress trainees make.

In my free time, I like walking in the city and watching films. I'm learning Welsh online and I regularly play a couple of sports badly.

I am a big fan of autumn and I love working on Celta, so this course is a perfect fit for me.

I have taught abroad and in the UK for many years and worked with all sorts of students. I became a teacher trainer 18 years ago when I was pregnant with my now at University son!

I have been a teacher for over a decade teaching children aged 5-16 in my home country and recently in the UK. I volunteer teaching adults as well.

I love to help people navigate their learning challenges and I saw quite a lot of language barrier amongst international students on my MSc.

I hope to explore international teaching and help non native English speakers gain competence in the use of the English language.

I'm a big fan of healthy living and I enjoy nature. In my free time, I enjoy reading about real life events told as fiction stories , i explore beautiful home spaces and have meaningful conversations.

My name is Wala Al-Keldi. I’m a mother of two children, 5 and 3 years old. After I became a mother, I have thought deeply of becoming a teacher. Therefore, I decided to join the CELTA course. I have decided to take CELTA not the TEFL course because is actually focusing on teaching adults not kids. As a mother myself I think teaching kids needs a lot of patient, where adults is more smooth and easy. I’m not sure if that statement is true but at least that’s what I think.

I’m looking forward to meeting everyone on the course from the tutors to the students. I’m sure we will work hard together and make good progress at the end of the course.

In my free time I like to go for a long ride in my car to the countryside and mesmerise god’s beautiful nature. It amazes me all the nature out there.

I'm originally from Liverpool but I came to Sheffield for university and have been here ever since. I studied languages and translation at uni. I'm currently a freelance translator, working from German into English. I've also been volunteering with SAVTE for a few years to support people who are learning English. I've really enjoyed this experience and I'm excited to learn more about teaching English.

In my free time I like walking, music and looking after my allotment, although I haven't had much success with vegetables this year!

My name is Libby and I completed my psychology degree last year at York St John University. I am currently working with an agency going into different schools and being a teaching assistant.

I would love to explore the world more and travel, which is what drew me to TEFL and CELTA. I can't wait to hopefully be able to immerse myself in different cultures and also teach those who want to learn English.

I also want to try and push myself out of my comfort zone and work on my confidence!

My name is Saleha and currently I am on maternity leave from my workplace. I have always wanted to do the CELTA course but never really pushed myself. However, after travelling and seeing the different cultures, lifestyles and countries that are out there - I felt motivated to do so.

Also in my current job role, I have carried out many training sessions and workshops which showed me that I like helping people and seeing them grow. It gives me a sense of satisfaction that I helped a person learn something which they are now using.

I’ve been at the ELTC for a couple of years now after more than a decade of travelling and teaching in various countries.

Interests

I don’t even know where to start as I’m interested in so many things. I’m not good at anything but it’s all about the journey, isn’t it? 🙂 What I probably like most is pottery but I’m in for any creative projects really.

Why am I doing the Celta?

I did my Celta and DELTA a while ago and since then I’ve briefly worked as a trainer of in-service teachers in Thailand and Myanmar. I found this experience really motivating so here I am now- looking forward to learning with and supporting all of you.

I've chosen to take part in this CELTA course as I have always been interested in the idea of teaching English as a foreign language abroad somewhere and this will be the first step to completing that goal.

My name is Alya, I studied Architecture, graduated from the University of Sheffield few years back and have since been working with the U.K. Visas and Immigration.

Helping people has always been a big thing for me and my current job allows me to help people on daily basis. In the past, I have completed the Duke of Edinburgh award and got the opportunity to teach young children. Teaching adults will be different but I am excited to discover this side too.

I’m also a travelholic and a spontaneous person and the CELTA will help combine all the things I’m passionate about as well as open possible international teaching opportunities for me.
