1) Why do you convert decimals to fractions?

You convert decimals to fractions to view the numbers differently. Because they are both numbers that are not whole.

2) Explain the process of converting decimals to fractions.

First, write the decimal number divided by one.
Then you multiply both the top and bottom number by 10 for every number after the decimal point. Finally, you reduce or simplify the fraction.

Then you add up the numbers that are lined up in the same place values. If the numbers don't have the same number of digits you can add zeros to line them up. You then drop down the decimal into you answer into the same placement in your answer.

You subtract decimals by lining up the number with the decimals points located in the same place and using zeros to fill in just like you add them. Then you subtract the numbers and move your decimal point down to your answer.
