You also need open land which results to deforestation, for economic benefits. When cutting down trees people gain money because they are selling the trees they cut down to other people. That is extremely beneficial to the economy. The land owners in Latin America are gaining lost of money because they are cutting down trees for more land, then selling those trees. Which results to deforestation and economic benefits.

Good job, Paige.
10/10 klm

The Economy Benefits from more farm land and infrastructure. Deforestation is caused when trees are cut down to make more farm land and infrastructure, so the more forest cut down the more the economy flourishes. In the text it says that Brazil will have to find a balance between between economic growth and protecting the environment, meaning that the economy is affected by protecting the Amazon. Another example of how saving the Amazon Rain Forest is not beneficial for the economy because the more farmland the more crops that can be produced, in the text it explains that turning jungle into farmland has made Brazil the second largest producer of beef. That is how protecting the Amazon Rain Forest is non-beneficial for the economy.

Great work, Greg!!
10/10 klm

Economic benefits and deforestation are connected through land use. Deforestation happens because humans want to use the land for agricultural or industrial reasons. Industries and agriculture benefit the economy. In order to perform them, land must be used, and often deforestation must occur for land to be usable. In the early 1970's, tens of thousands of settlers arrived in Brazil and destroyed forests to grow crops. The food they grew was a benefit to the economy, but they performed deforestation at the same time. Both the economic benefits and the deforestation occurred on the same area of land.

Great work, Rachel!
10/10 klm

When miners and settlers came to the Amazon Rain forest for gold and land, they polluted rivers and burned acres upon acres of forest to grow crops.

Their is are strong connections between deforestation and economic benefits. Deforestation is the process by which humans cut down trees, and to produce economic benefits, you must have land. The solution to most economy's problems is deforestation. People cut down trees to have, or to make room for, economic benefits. An example would be Brazil, they practice deforestation to make room for things like farmland so they could grow things like beef and soy. Yes, the environment had an impact on us by giving us land, but nobody realizes what they are doing to the environment

Good job, Hailey!
10/10 klm
.https://scouteradam.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/lorax.jpg

There are many different places and ways deforestation happens. Sometimes people just chop down a few trees with a chain saw, sometimes the burn down loads of trees and sometimes worst of all "Drum roll please" they chop down entire forests with huge and destructive machines. Deforestation often occurs in Brazil or more specifically the Amazon rain forest. More than half of the trees in the world have been chopped down and that is a major change in the earth in only 2000 years which is a long time but not for that.

Austin, you make good points.

Both economic benefits and deforestation are both causing bad situations to happen like when rain forests are being destroyed and its an issue for humans because while plant life are storing carbon dioxide its producing oxygen for humans to breathe and when the plant life is being destroyed we will have no oxygen to breathe:(

Kara, good points, however, make sure to explain how deforestation and economy are related.
7/10 klm

Economic benefits and deforestation are connected by land usage. Deforestation is cutting down trees and for economic benefits to happen, you must have land. Cutting down trees makes room for economic benefits. But cutting down to many trees is causing there to be to much carbon dioxide in the air, which is bad for humans. In the text (paragraph 9) it says "what happens to the rain forest affects the rest of the world." which means whatever we do to the trees, effects us as well. In conclusion deforestation and economic benefits are connected in many ways.

Good points, Julianna. Make sure to be specific when explaining how cutting down trees gives economic benefits.
9/10 klm
