The Roman's were a very advanced civilization that built many complex buildings and structures. One of the Romans biggest successes was their aqueducts which used stone columns to keep it from falling. This was a big man made canal that carried water throughout the city. They also built many other structures such as the Colosseum which was a huge arena that featured gladiator fights, plays, and chariot races. This was also supported by huge stone columns to help it stand.

Today Roman architecture is seen around the world. Every country has stadiums and many houses use columns to support basements and upper rooms. Also Many government buildings and bridges use this design to decorate and support them. They're seen in palaces and resorts but their mostly for decoration.

The Romans made their own government in 509 B.C. The government they made was refereed to as a republic. This was a government made so that the people have the power to vote even if they're not a member of one of the tripartite branches. The people had the power to pick they're own leaders like their consuls and their senate. Each branch only has certain powers so no one part got to much power and more authority than the other branches did. The Roman government also had laws that people had to follow called the "Law of the Twelve Tables."

Our government was impacted extraordinarily by the Romes government. We took many ideas from the Romans and how they ran theirs. One thing we inherited from their government was the checks and balances and the idea to give certain branches so much power so they didn't become to powerful. Also, we took the idea that we should have different parts of the government.

The Roman language (A.K.A. Latin) was very important in their time. One reason it was important was that all of the citizens could communicate for buying, selling, and trading things. Lastly, since people could talk and communicate with each other they could enforce laws, wright, and do schooling programs.
