         <description><![CDATA[<p>The 450-acre Eureka Mills site is located in the East Tintic Mountains about 80 miles southwest of Salt Lake City in Juab County, Utah. The site includes the residential and commercial parts of Eureka and some surrounding areas outside of the city limits. Mining took place at the site from about 1870 until 1958. Mining operations contaminated soil with lead, arsenic and other hazardous chemicals.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The public health concern identified in Eureka was children with high blood lead levels. The contaminated soils in Eureka contributed to over 50% of the children having high blood lead levels.&nbsp; EPA’s cleanup in combined with educational outreach on best practices for protecting yourself against lead exposures resulted in no high lead levels in children upon completion of the cleanup.&nbsp; In addition to protecting public health, EPA was able to preserve some of the historical structure that was important to the community and their past</p>]]></description>
