It is understandable to advocates of the opposite viewpoint that having an understanding of the local historical values is sufficient to live. Their allegation could have been accurate a few decades ago, when most interpersonal interactions were limited to persons of the same race and ethnicity. However, as the globe has grown more globalized, and multinational commerce and migrant labor have turned any town into a global village, this viewpoint is no longer valid. In this context, a knowledge of a foreign nation's history will assist future local employees to strengthen their bonds with expatriates from that country.

To commence with, some people adopt a view that the history of a nation is more valuable for the learners than the world history as such subject can enable schoolchildren to be aware of some frailties that their nations still need to develop. Nonetheless, this is such a fundamental flaw since learning international history can also help them to avoid countless urgent issues such as famine, civil wars, protests in other nations in the past that their country might tackle in the future. This merit manifests itself starkly in the truism of Japanese students who have learned world history have noticed that their countries are tackling some identical issues like some nations in the past. Hence, they strive for solving it in order to develop their nation in the foreseeable future. This is a testament to why people ought not to underestimate the vital determinant of world history.

It is understandable why some people contend that students should learn local history rather than international history. It is predicated on the assumption that fixating on one's country history will widen their knowledge about their national identity.According to this theory, this proposal would boost patritoism. However, this line of reasoning is not sound because learners will look at merely one side of the historical setting, which potentially triggers hatred towards other nations. Therefore, studying international history will help people to have a general standpoint in any historical events.

Certain people still believe that schoolchildren should study about local history rather than world ones. The key rationale is that it is likely to avoid incomprehensible and vague knowledge that world history has to offer, while on the other hand, local history is more concentrated and relatable to one’s lives. However, this thinking is flawed due to the fact that it overlooks the importance of world history in people’s life, way more vital than local ones. When studying world history, students will have a broader perspective of a historical scenario or event, therefore leading to a more objective judgement and knowledge of the scenario. This means students are likely to avoid the one-sidedness that happens in local history, which is based on the opinions and thinking of the country’s historians, that results in wrongful and inaccurate knowledge.

First of all, among several advantages associated with learning local history, the most significant of which is to understand thoroughly the origin and meaning of the past events, customs and so on of their motherland. Therefore, the youngsters could maintain the valuable tradition for the next generation. Furthermore, the country past is a storehouse of information about how the ancestors had lived, had thought and had fought to protect their families, hometown, and the most important is the land. For example, by listening about the rebellion of the people against the enemies to liberate Vietnam, Vietnamese children could understand the value of freedom and respect the sacrifice of their forefathers. Accordingly, teaching local history is synonymous with educating about patriotism. However, we should not underestimate the importance of world history. In order to understand more thoroughly and more deeply the regional past, it is necessary to relate the local historical events with corresponding world conditions.
