This is a very professional document, rhetorical moves used will reflect this.  All moves in a referral serve a specific purpose. If certain moves are left out or omitted there could be dire consequences for the patient, possibly resulting in the wrong treatment being carried out. There is an important order to the beginning of the referral such as the patient's name, doctor's name, and reason for referral, although there is some flexibility allowed for the other information included in the document.  The Language is very straightforward as it is between professionals in related fields. Circulation is minimal since they are only used from one office to another and since HIPPA regulations it is very important that privacy is maintained.
