  • First  Miss Skeeter talks to Aibileen about the story of constantine and then she talks with her mother about what exactly happened to constantine and her daughter

  • Its less than two weeks ago that President Kennedy has just been assassinated             ( p.342 „It‘s like no one wants to be the first to break the silence“)
  • Skeeter‘s mother is suffering  to cancer 
  • As she looks at the phone she thinks about stuart and that she hasn‘t heard from him for five months 
  • Skeeter picks up the phone and calls Miss Elaine Stein to inform her on the progress of the book.Skeeter says she will finish the book by the second week of January,but Stein moves up to December 21st.Miss Stein says that after December the editorial staff is flooded with more projects they have to handle,so she must have her manuscript ready befor everyone takes their winter vacations. Miss Stein also wants that Miss Skeeter writes a story about her own maid .


    • At Aibileen’s ,Skeeter tells her what Miss Stein said about adding a more personal story . Aibileen agrees to tell Skeeter about what happened with Constantine.

    • A couple days later at a League metting , Hilly decide to change the newsletter and initiates a vote to elect a new editor for the newsletter. No one votes for Skeeter and Hilly becomes the new editor.

    • As she arrived home from League metting She sees Stuart wating for her on porch . He tells her that  he went to california to makes sure he was over his ex-girlfriend and now he wants to make up with Miss Skeeter . Skeeter fells love for him mixed with a fear of getting hurt again so she says that there is no place left in her heart for him .

    • At night Skeeter drives to Aibileen’s to pick a title for the book . Skeeter want a long , academic title, but Aibileen want somthing simpler she suggest calling the book Help.

    • After Aibileen finished writing the story about Constantine she meet Miss Skeeter to tell her what happens to Constantine 
    >Twenty years ago,Constantine’s daughter,Lulabelle, was born whith very white skin and blond hair.Ashemed of her daughter’s appearance,Constantine gave up to an orphanage in Chicago when the girl was four .As Lulabelle was twenty-five she came to visit Constantine.
    • Aibileen gives her a letter with the rest of the story written on it, she is saying she better read it at home 
    • As Miss Skeeter read the story and want to write about it for her book she finds that she can’t writing about what her mother did to their family maid.

    • The next day Miss Skeeter wants to confront her mother with Constantine’s story. She wants to hear her mother’s side of the story.
    >her mother says that Lulabelle had arrived at Miss Skeeter’s home while she was throwing an event for local white women .Skeeters mother thought she’s just a white woman from the community but as Lulabelle indroduces herself as Constantine’s daughter who wants to live with  her mother in Jackson skeeters mother says that Lulabelle can never come to her house again . Miss Skeeter even angrier , tells Constantine she cannot work in their home if she stays in touch with her daughter.Unwilling to leave Lulabelle again , Constantine returns to Chicago with her daughter, but dies only three weeks later.
    • Back at Aibileen’s,Skeeter brings over the whole manuscript .
    • They start worrying about what happen if the housewives figure out that the book is about them.
    • The next day Skeeter mails it to Elaine Stein.
