The hairy part has a flaky texture when you swipe your hand through the 'hair'. It also has a sharp feel when you drag your hand vertically over the stumps left behind by the branches that have been cut away. I was attracted to this texture because of its hairy apprearance and dry tone. Like most of my textures I chose this one because it has a stark contrast compared to the textures around it.

Each cluster is made up of branches supporting 10 times the amount of bristles making a single cluster of these branches quite heavy. This texture caught my attention because it is made up of small prickly leaves instead of the texture sitting on one big leaf.

I chose this texture for its length, wax-like appearance and because it is completely different to the textures I've picked so far.

Lighter tones are created when white is added to a color and darker tones are produced when black is an addition to a hue.

The British Vogue February 2022 cover was a revelation and quite a significant turning point in the fashion industry. The issue displayed a cover of 9 beautiful, melanine rich-skinned women of African descent. The cover makes use of harsh, dark and cold tones with majority of these tones being placed on the models. From the top of their heads to the tip of their toes these models are covered in dark hues. This, in my opinion, emphasizes their vibrant skin tone, culture and African heritage with regards to the natural African physique and appearance. The use of vibrant blue and red contrasts that of the cold, darker tones making them stand out even though they take up little of the cover. The combination of these tones is natural and each tone flows freely into the next. The lighter background gives each figure it's own form and place on the cover. The difference in skin tone between Naomi and her baby shows the contrast between a fully developed adults tone and a developing newborns skin tone. The use of bright-hued blue and light-hued purple/pink are possibly used because these colors are generally associated with a baby's gender. Putting aside that each cover means something on its own and the models are of different nationalities, they are all of the same skin color but not the same skin tone. The models skin tone on the March cover was more natural-looking than the cold depiction of the African model's skin tones on the February cover. While each aspect of appearance is clear in the March cover, from Naomi's figure, facial expression, hair and clothes, the same clearness cannot be vouched for with regards to the February issue.

She is made up of not only an intricate  pattern that serves an eye-catching image but a high tonal contrast between her colors, black and white. This high tonal contrast serves a purpose of differentiating between positive and negative space allowing viewers to see clearly what is the shape of the pattern and what forms the background against said shape.

This project took me nothing short of a long time to represent the images' tonal value as best as my beginners abilities could achieve. Nevertheless I enjoyed the assignment as well as the mark I obtained. 
As per its definition this representation of low tonal contrast has a range of tonal values that are very close together. The tones range between lightest lights' (white) and darkest darks' (black), giving the drawing a grayscale effect.

It is the perfect balance between a rough and smooth surface as the face of the sculpture is smoothed out from the rest of the rough texture the crystal formed naturally and is made up of, providing the contrast between a rough and smooth texture.

While I will admit there is not much of a background it is still clear to see that Rick is the focal point in the picture, making him the foreground and the pot plants the background of this image. Because the stationary holder is in front of the other objects, takes up the larger scale and is visually clearer than the rest of the image we can deduce that the main focus of this picture is the stationary holder and whatever surrounds it becomes the background/everything you see when your attention is not focused on the holder.

The plaque with the laughing boy (left) is made up of a dull monotonal range of black, white and gray while the Captain Morgan plaque (right) is bursting with a bright range of colors such as red, yellow and white. Both plaques capture ones attention individually because of the message it relays but when looked at as a whole image the bright colors of the Captain Morgan plaque demands your attention more as opposed to the dull colors of the laughing boy plaque.

Though they are exactly the same in shape and size the difference between these two is their contrast in color. T1 (left) is the warm orange colored twin of the set while T2 is the cool green one of the pair. There are many aspects that can set two visually identical objects apart and in this aspect it is not only the simple term of 'color' that makes them different but the specific color combination of warm/cool hues that makes this image serve its purpose.

The pattern on this bag consists of various geometric shapes that mainly, but not only, stems from the triangular form. Each shape, triangle; diamond or any other, has its own size in relation to the role it plays in the pattern and as a whole the shapes serve purpose in the balance of the design. This bag serves well in representing the contrast between different geometric shapes and their sizes in design.

In this case, I chose to use the simplest representation of scale any household consists of. When it comes to cutlery and crockery there are always smaller and bigger versions of the same object that each serve their own purpose. For example, the small spoon (left) is a teaspoon used mainly when making something to drink while its larger in scale counterpart is used mainly when eating something such as porridge. With the concept of contrast in this example these objects provide the same services but for different purposes.

Although I do not wear them for the purpose they were made for I do find them very fashionable and comfortable. In the image I chose to contrast my first pair of Vans (right) against my latest pair (left). It is clear to see by its faded color, accumulation of dust and chipping of red paint that the pair on the left is old in comparison to the new pair on the right, but the age of the pair does not take any value away from the shoes, its age just might add value to them as age does to many things.

This beautiful painting, done by my very own father, uses a range of greens that subtly flows into a little wavy sea of yellows formed in the background. To be subtle is to be delicate, not immediately detectable or difficult to analyse which I believe describes the contrast represented in this painting.
