What a true Writing Conference looks like and how to build time in to conference often with students.
3. Using "stations" to differentiate instruction. Teachers need to learn how to use the lexile levels of students to group appropriately and how to find various levels of texts about the same topic to get the same information to students. It is easier to use a whole group text to deliver information rather than use texts at the students' reading level. Yes, STAAR is still at grade level texts, but the district's mission statement is "name and need."

I've asked my department and will put their responses here. :)

I think if the district wants us to continue with TI, I would appreciate more TI training. Also, with all the changes to the 8th grade curriculum this year, I don't know if they would do it, but some 8th grade curriculum specific training might be helpful.

I like the option of breakout choices like we had last year. It would be nice if one of the breakouts was in a computer lab where teachers from across the district could contribute activities they’ve created for different topics into a shared online folder or google classroom. One of the largest complaints I see when we read unit feedback responses in curriculum writing is that there aren’t enough activities to supplement certain power standards or skills required for the EA. For example, in Unit 3: Literary Analysis, there is always feedback that there isn’t enough support for writing insightful commentary or for embedding text evidence. So if those were made topics in a shared folder or google classroom, teachers from across the district would be able to contribute resources they have for those needs.
