Gatsby's Party:

The symbol of "Gatsbys Party" is a recurring symbol throughout the book, and we can learn many different things about them. In the novel "The Great Gatsby" by F Scott Fitzgerald, Gatsbys parties have a couple meanings.

Later in the novel his true motive to his parties are later revealed that the main reason is because of Daisy and his dream seeing her again.

I believe that due to him trying to find Daisy the symbol of Gatsbys parties can be shown differently, Gatsbys Parties shows how Gatsby emptiness and all the others are just empty and partying to numb the real things going on "A sudden emptiness seemed to flow now from the windows and the great doors, endowing with complete isolation the figure of the host, who stood on the porch, his hand up in a formal gesture of farewell" (Fitzgerald 55). Gatsbys parties dont usually have one set theme but rather show multiple different ones such as fakeness and superficiality of the rich and people partying till they cant.

At these parties nice clothes and fancy suits are mentioned many times in the book "Gatsby in a white flannel suit, silver shirt and a gold-colored tie hurried in" (Fitzgerald 69). Which expresses his wealth even more. Lastly i think Gatsbys Parties symbolizes hope.

Gatsby doesnt throw these lavish parties for no reason, hes holding onto the last string of hope that Daisy will someday appear. "He half expected her to wander into one of his parties, some night (Fitzgerald 79). Him holding onto daisy in this way shows his never ending "hope" that she will one day come by. Overall, Gatsbys parties represent many ideas throughout the novel such as wealth and class division, while at the same time they also show Gatsbys true motive behind his parties, in the end the parties are not just about dancing and partying but more about the meaning of chasing a dream, even if they wont come true.
