What is Contrast?

Contrast is produced when two or more visual elements in a composition are different. It can be used to create specific effects, emphasise the significance of certain elements, and add visual appeal to your designs.

What is white space?

White space does not literally mean an empty space with a white background. It can be any color and any area within a design that is free from text, images, or embellishments. White space helps create grouping, adds emphasis and can improve legibility.

What is Alignment?

The design principle of Alignment is the arrangement of elements of a design in relation to borders or edges of shapes or text in a design. You can see this in the example in the left section has the boxes aligned, and you can see the boxes that are out of alignment in the right section. Elements in a design can also be aligned across the top, bottom or right side as well.

What is Proximity?

Proximity is all about using visual space to show relationships in your content. Objects that are near each other in space are seen as belonging together. Make sure related items are visually grouped together. Groups that are NOT related to each other should be separated to visually emphasize their lack of a relationship.

Why Redesign?

A redesign of a book cover is a NEW LOOK for an already in print book.

There are many reasons why a book might be redesigned. A few of them are: A book cover can be redesigned when an author wants a fresh look to attract more readers. It can also be redesigned if the cover is out of date, or been in print long enough that people are used to the book cover. A redesigned book cover can refresh interest in a story.
