"All young people," according to Dr. Blumenkrantz, "have something to offer. They are one of the most important assets and untapped resources because they are so strong, their adaptive brain, in other words, how they think creatively can really impact so many fields and so many different ways" (Galli 08:39).

In the podcast, Dr. Blumenkrantz states that all young people have valuable contributions to make. He thinks that young people represent a crucial and underutilized resource because their innovative thinking and adaptive brains can significantly impact various fields in numerous ways, as long as someone can guide them in the right way. Gage’s story perfectly illustrates Dr. Blumenkrantz’s idea. For example. Miss Hurd is a very insightful teacher. She helps each student become a better self through her unique teaching methods. Especially for students from poor families, like Gage. She helped Gage grow from a foreigner who could not speak English well at the beginning and always wrote with grammatical errors to an experienced Journalist with many honors. All his achievements could not have been achieved without the advice and promotion of Miss Hurd. We always said that talents are everywhere, however seldom can they be recognized. Gage counts on Miss Hurd’s help to become a talented person who can make the world better.

Quotation: "We face a flight from conversation that is also a flight from self-reflection, empathy, and mentorship—the virtues of Thoreau's three chairs” (Turkle, 383).

Explantation: The key term “Empathy”, as Turkle notes, relies on the in-person conversation. It becomes challenging to cultivate empathy when interactions become primarily transactional and lack depth. The mention of "mentorship" underscores the importance of relationships built on mutual support and guidance, which are often forged through meaningful discussions. Without regular opportunities for conversation, individuals may struggle to form the kind of connections that foster mutual understanding and shared wisdom.

Ultimately, the loss of conversation represents a larger societal challenge that Turkle urges readers to address through conscious efforts to engage more authentically with one another.

The theme of the Silk Road is full of Oriental exotic customs, such as painted porcelain bottles, camels and so on. It is precisely because these cultures are so brilliant and beautiful that it is necessary to use digital humanities to protect them.

This is my revised project, as I was not satisfied with my score on Project 1. Since I am still getting familiar with this course and learning how to write a strong academic paper, many aspects of my writing felt unfamiliar. The transitions were often awkward, and several sections were far from perfect. Fortunately, with the patient guidance of Professor Zehala, I was able to revise the first part of Project 4 and ultimately achieved a full score. I am deeply grateful to my professor—without her support and guidance, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve such a good result.

This experience made me realize the strong connection between language, culture, and psychology. In the future, I hope to study psychology and explore how cultural backgrounds shape psychological behaviors and communication styles. This course has opened new pathways for me, and I’m grateful for both the academic and personal growth it has brought me.

Speculation about the MBTI personality test for Prof Zehala🤔..

The ISFJ personality type is often described as nurturing, patient, and reliable, which aligns closely with Professor Zehala’s teaching style. Here are some examples from her classroom that support this hypothesis:

1. Patience and Empathy

• Professor Zehala has consistently shown great understanding of cultural differences. For instance, she acknowledges that many international students, especially from China, may feel hesitant to speak up in class. Instead of pushing us, she creates a comfortable environment by encouraging us to participate at our own pace.

• Her avoidance of frequent group work demonstrates her consideration for students who may find such tasks challenging, particularly in cross-cultural settings.

2. Reliability and Dedication

• As an ISFJ, dedication is a hallmark trait. This is evident in how she sends announcements or replies to student inquiries late at night, reflecting her strong work ethic and commitment to her students’ success.

3. Nurturing Guidance

• When I expressed dissatisfaction with my first project grade, she patiently guided me through revisions, step by step, until I fully understood how to improve. Her individualized attention demonstrates her caring and detail-oriented nature.

Professor Zehala has been one of the most impactful instructors I have had during my college journey. Her teaching style is not only patient and understanding but also tailored to the needs of her diverse students. Reflecting on her personality traits and communication approach, I believe she may exhibit characteristics of the ISFJ personality type, also known as The Defender. This reflection aims to analyze her teaching style through the lens of personality and communication while showcasing the lessons I have learned from her.

From observing and interacting with Professor Zehala, I have gained several important insights:

1. The Importance of Patience

• Her approach to teaching shows that patience fosters trust and understanding in communication, making it easier for students to engage and grow.

2. Adapting to Cultural Differences

• She has inspired me to be more empathetic and adaptable when working with individuals from different backgrounds, a skill that is crucial for my future studies in psychology.

3. Dedication to Excellence

• Her hard-working nature reminds me of the importance of staying committed to one’s responsibilities, no matter how demanding they may be.

Reflecting on Professor Zehala’s teaching style reminds me of Gage’s story about Miss Hurd in A Teacher’s Influence. Just as Miss Hurd empowered Gage with her empathy and guidance, Professor Zehala has shown a similar dedication to supporting her students. Her patience in helping me revise my project and her understanding of international students’ challenges have made a lasting impact on me.

Like Miss Hurd, Professor Zehala demonstrates that great teaching is about more than academics—it’s about inspiring confidence and fostering growth. Her empathy and care have shaped my first-year experience, and I am deeply grateful for her influence.

In addition to studying psychology, I hope to explore its intersection with cultural studies, language, and social issues. My personal experience as an international student has made me particularly interested in understanding how cultural backgrounds shape psychological behaviors and influence mental health. In the future, I aspire to contribute to cross-cultural psychological research, focusing on areas such as communication styles, workplace dynamics, and emotional well-being.

Moreover, I am passionate about improving psychological support for international students and marginalized communities, bridging cultural gaps, and fostering inclusivity. Combining my love for writing and psychology, I also hope to create meaningful resources, such as stories or platforms, to promote emotional understanding and connection across different cultural contexts.
