I started working for Jisc in 2004 and have always worked on programmes or initiatives relating to staff and students' experiences of using technology in support of their teaching or learning. I established our student experience experts group and our change agents' network which supports student and staff partnerships around digital. My team supports universities with digital transformation, learning and curriculum design and international students' digital experiences. I am looking forward to working with you all on this group!

I graduated from library school in 1986 and have worked in special, health and academic libraries before focusing on educational technology and digital literacy. More recently I have been working with Jisc, and directly with some universities, in the area of digital transformation. I have led several review groups to produce some large scale pieces such as the recent Jisc digital transformation framework and maturity model. I am very excited about producing a library lens on the framework as I think it will really help to get library teams recognised as vital to the conversation.

I head a wide-ranging team of subject matter experts who design and lead community engagement programmes in support of digital transformation as it relates to content and discovery. Hi - I started working for Jisc in 2012 as a digitisation programme manager. Prior to that I worked on largescale audio digitisation in the British Library Sound Archive leading a team to put 12K hours of archival audio online for the first time. I then went on to work on the Library’s 10 year strategic vision and finally as business change manager on the newspaper programme, the Library’s largest programme to date. Lots of digital transformation there...

Upon joining Jisc I co-managed a portfolio of £12m of digitisation projects and went on to lead the UK side of the Digging into Data (round 3) programme. I then co-developed and managed the partnership for the UK Medical Heritage Library and was fortunate to join the team working on the UK National Monograph strategy with our partners SCONUL and RLUK which resulted in the National Bibliographic Knowledge base (NBK).

I currently specialise in digital scholarship, digital libraries and archives, with a focus on the potential impacts of artificial intelligence on Arts & Humanities research, consulting with UK academic libraries on developing strategies to make machine-readable collections available for research and working with colleagues in the Digital Humanities on these themes.

I look forward to helping in developing the DTLL as I love working collaboratively to find pragmatic strategies and it seems so pertinent right now with the changes happening in the sector and the somewhat haphazard shift to digital arising from the pandemic. I believe libraries are key to effective change to digital and look forward to working with you all. I am Head of Library Services and University Librarian at University of Cumbria. The image above is of our Ambleside campus library.
