1. Your name, matric number, date

Anjana Aggarwal
A168778
1 August 2021

2. What have you done?

Last week was the first week of me embarking on my Elective Posting journey. I have chosen to pick up Basic First Aid Skills in Emergency as my project and hence, I enrolled in an online course of six weeks on Coursera.

Throughout Week 1 itself, I had learnt all about :

1) First aid for cardiac arrest when there is an absence of consciousness and breathing
2) The Cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) algorithm on an adult, child, infant as well as on a pregnant woman
3) What is an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and how to use it in first aid
4)How to put the victim in a safe position (stable lateral position) after restoring

It took me some time to digest all the new knowledge being presented to me but it was indeed very insightful. Once I felt confident with all that I have learnt, I attempted the Module Test 1 of the online course comprising of just ten questions

3. Points to remember from week 1

This week, the essential points to remember for me are that

1) Clinical death is a potentially

reversible cessation of the body. The duration of clinical death under

normal conditions is 4-6 minutes. At this stage, we can STILL save a person, and bring him back to life through accurately performed First Aid.

2) If we do nothing and do not provide first aid in time, simply waiting for the ambulance to arrive, then irreversible changes in the body occur leading to permanent biological death.

By our actions in that crucial moment, we can extend the duration

clinical death by 10, 20, 30 minutes.

4. Your feelings & thoughts

Initially, I felt a little intimidated by the learning material because it was quite a lot and I doubted if I would be able to fully digest it all within a week. However, once I began, I felt very excited as I achieved each learning outcome, one by one. I also thought the course to be very useful and relevant in our current times. The more learning material I covered, the more amazed and in awe I felt about how the human body works in just that few moments after collapse.

5. 1 good thing from what you did that you can practice now!

One thing I am able to practice right now is my knowledge on what to do in the case of any cardiac arrest or collapse in my family which comprises of children as well as normal adults and adults who have heart problems. I also now know what to say if I were to I call an ambulance for an emergency.

6. Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?

My challenge for Week 1 was that there were quite a few complicated medical terms being used in the videos that I could not understand. In order to overcome this, I simply had to pause in between the videos and search for the meanings of the terms. It was a little time-consuming, but it was worth the effort because learning the true definitions of each term separately really helped me understand the learning material better.

7. 2 words to describe elective posting progress so far

Insightful
Eye-opening

8. Your plan for next week (Week 2)

For Week 2, I will be learning First aid for Airway Obstruction and Drowning. I am excited for this!

What have you done?
Hi everyone, I’m Izyani! I chose volunteering as my EP. No doubt, this is the best decision In made 😁

I volunteered at PPV HCTM which is done in a drive-thru mode, located at the HPKK parking lot. During the first week, I attended an online meeting which was mainly about getting to know the flow of vaccination and our specific job scopes according to the stations that we are assigned. It was pretty comprehensive and concise.

3. Points to remember from week 1
4. Feeling and thoughts
The first day was quite tiring but of course exciting! 🤩 My coworkers were all very welcoming and friendly. One thing that I always keep in mind is to be the best version of myself no matter where I am or what I do.

5. One good thing you did that you can practice now?
I kept on asking questions and refer my superiors if I have any doubts regarding the procedures. They were always willing to help, so, I believe that it is one of the factors that helps me improve myself.

6. Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?
One of the difficulties that I encountered was dealing with the attitude and manners of the patients. Well, sometimes things don’t go as their planned, so, they tend to vent their anger towards us. At first, I was shocked and clueless on how to react but then, I just let them be. I had no other choices than to be strict about the rules.

7. Two words to describe EP progress so far
Two words to describe my EP so far would be thrilling and amusing.

8. Plan for next week
My plan for next week is to volunteer for morning and afternoon shifts everyday. Wish me luck 😉

What have you done?

I have volunteered myself at the Pusat Pemberian Vaksin di Hospital Pakar Kanak-Kanak whilst waiting for the volunteering program at other PPVs to accept my application. For my time being there, I have stationed myself to be part of the registration team. I had work with the system to ensure that the people that come to get their vaccination was registered properly in their application on the phone which was the ‘MySejahtera’ app. The job demands me to ask for their vaccine card and identification cards so that it could be check in the system and recorded properly. Then the information is verified using the laptops provided and a form is filled out as that helps to smooth the process for the next station to do their part of work.

3. Points to remember from week 1

In a new unrecognized environment, its important to know the people around you so that it would be easier to fit in and adapt yourself to the work. Teamwork and communication really play a strong and important role in a workplace. An individual work is given to someone but without coordination, the flow would crumble, and pandemonium would arise. For a newcomer, asking a lot of question is a typical thing to happen, so I should not be shy to ask rather than risking myself into making an error

4. Your feelings & thoughts

It was the first time I went out my way to go out and do actual work. I was a bit nervous and scared that I would mess things up, but it all went well and I’m quite proud of myself to be able to help people.

1. Hello! My name is Prasant A/L Puvaneswaran (A167852) and it's the 4th of August today.

2. What have you done?
I am attending an online course on edx.org titled 'Leading with Effective Communication'. This online course is about how to master effective communication which can help us to be inclusive leaders in the future. I am currently in the first week of the course. I have done the introductory course for this week.

3. Points to remember from week 1!
All of us are capable of using our voice to change the world and this requires inclusive leadership. Using our voice to change the world does not mean that we have to have some lofty goal like ending world hunger or bringing peace, because it can be both small and big. It means changing the world of our community, home, school, or our workplace. First of all, we should work with the fear of talking to others and solve the challenges like cross-cultural differences when communicating with others. Not only that, words play a very important role in communication too. Just by changing our perspectives and ideas about an issue, we can make connections, inspire others or even create a change. To be an inclusive leader, we have to make others feel included, which can be achieved by the values of empowerment, accountability, courage, and humility called the EACH framework. Inclusion happens when we value both the differences and commonalities of others.

4. Your feelings & thoughts
I am feeling good so far. Although this is something that I have been learning in medical school and also throughout my life so far, it is something that I consider that I should keep working on. Because for me, communication is not just about conveying a message appropriately to another person, but it is also about connecting with them or even inspire them. I am looking forward to learning about the EACH framework in the following weeks. I also look forward to learning how to make myself an empowering leader in the future who can bring a change in other people's life.

5. 1 good thing from what you did that you can practice now!
Taking this course taught me that, we must consider who is our audience before speaking. Let it be both spoken or written, audience matters. We should use the right words with the right people to achieve what we want. I have also made a communication plan for myself which I will share at the end of my elective posting.

6. Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?
As for now, there aren't any difficulties or concerns, because I am still going through the basics of the course. I am coping well for now, and I expect to learn something challenging for the upcoming weeks.

7. 2 words to describe elective posting progress so far
Inspiring. Interesting.

8. Your plan for next week (Week 2)
I will be learning in detail about the EACH framework starting with how to communicate effectively with empowerment.

Good evening! i'm Imannajmi bin Shahrazad (A168135) and this is my progress of the first week of electing posting

I chose to deal in business field to analyse and observe how critical decision making is made by learning directly from the CEO of a developing company known as Qutaibah HQ Empire himself. On our first week, we had our first meeting through zoom. We were supposed to attend the meeting face to face at Dengkil however due to the lockdown we had to deal online.
During our meeting, the founder gathered a new team just for the sake of learning this business.

Throughout the meeting, instead of spending absurd amount of time on ice-breaking we focused more on getting to know the company. I noticed the founder was making an effort to introduce us to his company as it is a vital component in developing a business.

Beside that, we were briefed and discussed regarding the strategies that the founder has drafted whether they decent or vice versa.

The points i would totally remember from the first week my of elective posting are Rome was not built in a day, it takes years to develop a stable company and good things will always take their time.

I was just starting my elective posting however that did not make me see less. It feels great to spend time doing things out of medical field. it is not as great as a vacation but it does give me a big escape and I'm grateful for that.

The best thing I had done and useful to apply is to appreciate your team. I had this opportunity before however I failed to apply it. It's a shame I had to learn it the hard way.

Since I started my elective posting, the only thing that was troubling me was the opportunity to learn physically about decision making in business from the founder himself as the situation is against me. As i mentioned before, we managed to held a meeting online and it was not that bad after all.

I would describe the elective posting progress so as creative and strategic.

I was planning on joining the team on visiting the factory in Johor Bahru. I wish to learn more from there on.

Nurul Emira Syaffira Bibi Binti Majeed (A167976)
2 August 2021

Hi, I’m Emira and I’ve been doing volunteering at drive thru PPV HUKM in the HPKK parking lot. I started my first day duty on Monday for evening shift from 12.30pm to 3.00pm. On my first day, I learned on how to use the MyVass system to register the patient for vaccination. The following day throughout the week, I’m attached to the registeration station for my duty

Things I need to remember from my first week was how to make sure I make no mistake when registering the vaccinee such as spelling error because we need to work fast to make sure the a nice flow of cars and not jammed.

It was indeed a fun week of volunteering at PPV. I felt like I am one of the frontliners who contribute something to the country hahahahha.

1 good thing I can practice now is how to blend with new people. Meeting new people from the PPV do make me nervous, since they are mostly doctors and staffs who are older than me, but now I know how to mingle around them and work with them without feeling awkward or scared.

The difficulties I face in my first week was to adapt with the MyVass system. It was not that difficult but any mistake could affect other vaccination process so it kind of pressured me to make sure I make no mistake. I was able to cope woth it by asking for other volunteers who have more experience than me.

To words to describe my EP now: Fun experience!

My plan for next week is to be more proactive and try other station too

EP WEEK 1

Assalamualaikum & hi everyone!

1. Your name, matric number, date

My name is Mohamad Hasrul Aizat bin Talib
A168373
16 May 2021

2. What have you done?

I am joining a program under college administrative to ensure the welfare and safety of quarantine students in Kolej Tun Dr Ismail is well-managed and taken care of throughout this uncertain period. We manage the quantity of food (sometimes when we have the manpower we deliver it ourselves), prepare the necessary materials, remind about their swab test, inform the results of their swab test and attend to any complaints or any possible events. Since this is week 1, students are starting to start their quarantine from returning home, some are close contacts and some are positive cases. So we started of by preparing our own hand sanitizer and disinfectant to be distributed to quarantine students!

3. Points to remember from week 1!

Since this is week 1, its quite overwhelming if I started to look at the bigger picture without considering the possible timeline for anything that I need to do. What I could say about the things to remember from this week is:

- Always be calm and plan when things unexpectedly happen
- Map out the important dates (quarantine end dates, swab dates etc) to monitor the food quantities and active positive/quarantine cases.
- Be a alert about food restrictions (religious/allergies etc)

4. Your feelings & thoughts

At first it was overwhelming especially when the numbers of quarantine students goes to 100++, it was so overwhelming that I didn't planned things well resulting in some people got shortages of food especially the new cases because their name is not registered as quarantine cases when the distribution of food is done. But then when we keep calm and plan with a whole complete list is there for reference, it became much efficient and easy to handle.

5. 1 good thing from what you did that you can practice now!

Keep calm in every situation and plan the things to do!

6. Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?

The shear numbers of cases, but I have my friends and committee to handle this together. I'm not alone so I need to use that advantage.

7. 2 words to describe elective posting progress so far

- Progressing
- Learning

8.

1. Your name, matric number, date
Nur Athirah Binti Tajaludin
A168084
7/8/2021

2. What have you done?
I was on duty from 3/8/2021 until 6/8/2021 for the first week in PPV KLCC. Here, i was placed at the discharge counter where i was needed to assess all the patients after their 2nd dose vaccine and ask for any severe post jab symptoms. But before that, the patients were asked to wait for around 15-30 minutes for observation before they’re called back to the counter. I also briefed to them about their digital certificate in the MySejahtera application and address any issues or questions that they have regarding any side effects after the vaccine.

3. Points to remember from week 1!
The most important thing that i was thought was how to communicate with the patients quick and efficiently at the same time. I needed to make the conversation brief but compact with all the informations they require. Since there are tons of people coming in, i need to use my time wisely in order to make sure everyone are called and got their assessment on time.

4. Your feelings & thoughts
From this week 1, i felt so overwhelmed and tired since i work 12 hours a day from 8AM to 8PM. However, despite feeling tired i also am very excited to go into my second week as i feel like there are still many challenges i can discover and overcome.

5. 1 good thing from what you did that you can practice now!
The one thing i feel like i can practice and work from now on is my communication skill. I feel like I’ve some improvement in the way i talk to patients compared to before. This is the thing i feel like i can practice in the future especially when i meet many patients in the future.

6. Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?
At first, my main concern is about me not having any friends there. I was all alone for the first day. I was scared to talk and make new friends as the environment are totally new to me. So, to overcome that, i build up my courage and tried talking to some people.

7. 2 words to describe elective posting progress so far
Tiring and exiciting

8. Your plan for next week (Week 2)
To get out of my comfort zone and connect to many other people. I would also like to explore other job scope available here and try do other work.

How is your progress?
Our idea is to prepare and provide PPE to all students. As one of the members MEP, we successfully request almost Rm9000 in order to buy masks and other stuff. I think it's one of the huge funds for a programmed to be collected because we manage to get almost RM20,000 in order to buy PPE for all students in Kolej Tun Dr Ismail. This program we plan for a few months already and we start to request for quotation in may. The progress now is under control but we didn't manage to distribute a few items such as a face mask, apron, and also face shield due to students going back for holiday.

3. Points to remember from week 1!
I think this kind of program really open my eyes to communicate and to see KTDI as a whole community. we just collaborate with HUKM in order to prepare a hand sanitizer and it would be a new experience for us.

The thing that really makes up in my mind is
-If we as an organizer, need to really make a plan and have a proper discussion in order to make all committee knows what their job is.

4.
