In this photograph it seems that people are enjoying their time listening to music. There are ladies dressed as they are flappers girls dancing to jazz. My thoughts about this picture is that their are never women playing an instrument. Women seemed to be a little background to get people more into the music.

It is sad because it explains how Holiday died at the age of 44, which is really young. Her death was caysed by addiction which Im assuming was to drugs or alcohol. It is sad when famous people begin to realize their wealth and waste on things like that. It is especially sad when legends like her throw their life away with it.

Jazz music was created in the 19th century, at the time where people fell in love with music. Jazz music is a reggae type of soulful music that was composed mainly by African Americans. Jazz music is also very calming music that can also be very powerful. The popularity of jazz music majorly increased after the invention of the radio because people could tune in to the new era of music. This type of music was a combination of secular music and religious music. Although, there is a large contrast it is what they did. The secular music was from a lot of the slave history that they have experienced. The more religious music was what the African Americans had learned in church. Jazz music majorly originated in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. It was in this particular city because this was a major port city where many people of different ethnicities would meet. Here, jazz musicians would share their talent of either singing or sometimes just playing an instrument. Many legendary musicians were formed as a result of this era such as, Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday.

Present day music has definitely been influenced by jazz music. Different musicians have used different techniques to portray this genre of music. For a while until later in the 19th century, jazz was the biggest type of music. If a present day listener listens to the radio they are still able to hear hints of jazz. For example, R&B music has the most jazz influences with it. Overall the influences of jazz music has had a spiritual impact for new singers and continues to leave an impact and it won’t stop because this music was such a turning point for style of music.
