         <description><![CDATA[<div>Energy Conservation regionally can happen through organizations demanding for regulations. Although energy demands have impacted the economy, companies need to regulate their practices and the impact that they have on the environment. Examples of conservation include: avoiding showers between 3 and 7 p.m., turning AC to 78 degrees, not drying clothes between 3 and 7 pm. Take shorter showers, Replace light bulbs to LED, Reduce heat loss by using insulation and double pane windows, Use new and modern energy efficient appliances.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Natural sources of energy, including solar power, wind, geothermal, and hydroelectric power</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Solar: Photovoltaic cells (PV cells) are electrical cells that allow the light energy of the sun to be converted into electricity. PV cells are usually made with purified silicon and traces of metals that allow them to act as semiconductors. Sunlight photons hit the solar cell which then knocks electrons loose from their atoms. If conductors are attached to the positive and negative sides of a cell an electrical circuit forms. Wind Energy uses windmills to capture the kinetic energy of moving wind to spin a turbine. The rotation of the turbine converts the mechanical energy produced by the turbine into electricity (daily source). Geothermal energy is captured by using the heat stored in the Earth’s interior to heat up water. Geothermal energy is achievable by using an area of the Earth where the crust is thin enough to capture the hot water. The water’s hot temperature converts into steam which is brought to the surface and powers an electric generator. Hot water is pumped from the deep underground of the Earth’s hot interior through a well under high pressure.</div><div>When the water finally reaches the surface, the pressure is then dropped. This drop in pressure causes the hot water to be converted into steam. The steam spins a turbine which is connected to a generator that produces electricity. The steam then cools off in a cooling tower and is condensed back into water form. The cooled water is then pumped back into the Earth to start the process again. Hydropower is energy that comes from the force of moving water which turns a turbine. Hydroelectric power generation converts the potential and kinetic energy of water into electrical energy.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Energy is not equally distributed amongst developing and developed nations. As countries develop their total energy consumption increases. As a country develops, each individual person needs more resources at a higher rate and one of those is energy. The carbon footprint for individuals in developed countries is higher than the average for individuals in developing countries. The global distribution of the world's natural resources is not equal and mostly depend on a region's geological history. A region's geological history can give an insight of what types of natural resources were able to develop there.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Biomass and oil are fuel types. The world is dependent on fossil fuels because they are easy to access. The three main types of fossil fuels are coal, oil (petroleum) and natural gas. Coal formed from millions of year of decomposed plant buildup, coal is made of of carbon, hydrogen and water. Oil formed from millions of year of heat and pressure of aquatic organisms, oil is made up of carbon and hydrogen. Natural Gas formed from plant and animal organic matter trapped under a sedimentary layer of Earth’s layer, natural gas is made up mostly of methane (CH4). Fossil fuel combustion is the process of a fuel type reacting with heat and oxygen which leads to chemicals, light and energy being released. Complete combustion releases non-toxic chemicals such as water vapor and heat however in majority of the cases incomplete combustion occurs. When coal is burned it releases CO2, nitrogen oxides, and sulfur dioxide. Coal combustion also leads to particulates that contribute to pollution of the atmosphere. Nuclear energy is the process of harvesting electrical energy from the nuclear reaction through the process of nuclear fission or fusion. Nuclear energy is harvested through the use of the radioactive element, uranium. The total supply of the world’s uranium is limited and is replaceable after it has been all used up for energy. The scarcity of uranium makes nuclear energy a nonrenewable energy source. Nuclear Energy power plants are seen more in industrialized nations that have the materials and money to extract the uranium. More money also means that more research is put in. Nuclear fission is the process where atoms of Uranium-235 are split after being struck by a neutron. Nuclear atoms are constantly being split into 2 smaller parts which in return release heat that is converted into energy. This causes a chain reaction of more neutrons being released which causes heat.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
