Overall, air pollution causes the deaths of around 7 million people worldwide each year, and is the world's largest 
single environmental health risk.

    • Globally, exposure to air pollution is a major cause of illness and even death. As a result of exposure, an estimated 4.2 million premature deaths occur every year from outdoor air pollution.
