I expect this class to be a little advanced in general because it's the five weight civics, but also because I'm not very good with history. Also, I'm not the most interested person when it comes to the election, or politics in general. In my opinion, both Trump and Clinton are running for president for publicity rather than making our country better.

I think that it was brave of the two women to step up and think outside of the box and defend their rights. They weren't afraid to stand up for what the believed in, and in doing that they accomplished many things. Without them becoming the first women to be on the Supreme Court, the idea of a leading women wouldn't have come around for another couple of years.

Texas v. Johnson (flag burning court case)

I do not support the making of an amendment that calls burning the American flag constitutional. In my opinion, if you aren't willing to support the country by standing up for the anthem, then you can leave the country. If this country is so racist and so unjust, then why don't you leave? The people over seas that spend months or years away from their loved ones don't do that so people like Kaepernick can sit during the national anthem. It's just so disrespectful.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington

1. I thought that the movie was boring and hard to follow in the beginning because they talked about complicated issues and topics that I haven't heard of before, or doesn't interest me. However, once Smith called to yield the court (or whatever the saying is), it became interesting. Once Smith was standing, the movie didn't lose my interest because new things kept coming up. New information was provided to give a better understanding of the background of the crime. When the end of the movie came, I was glad that Smith passed out because that caused it made Paine confess to his crimes.
2. If there were to be a second movie made, I would start it out by having Smith and Miss Saunders get married. The movie would surround their lives after the court case. Next, they would have a couple children, at least one of them being a boy. That boy would go on to attend one of the boys camps that Smith created. Out of both of the political parties, Smith mostly be a Republican because of his ideals. He backed up more of the humane rights, instead of the natural rights. Which explains more into why he wanted a boys camp built instead of a dam.
3. The political figure that Smith reminds me of is Mark Kirk. They are both republican men who have a spot in the senate. Both men are the Junior Senator's for their state. Both men are also of the middle to higher class and are middle aged. A difference between the two men is that Kirk has been a Junior Senator for around sixteen years, while Smith had no previous political experience. Kirk would've been able to bring up a better argument against Paine, and probably would've won the court case easily instead of having to yield the floor like Smith.
