https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8aAaGDNosQ
This commercial emphasizes the importance of hard work through an Olympic runner's rigorous training process. Although the video exclusively refers to his running experience, this can be applied to any aspect of life, giving prominence to the idea presented in the video that nothing good ever comes easily. Whether this applies to schoolwork, extracurricular activities, or sports, this idea is definitely transferable to several aspects of life. Think about a time when your hard work paid off, and whether your efforts were worth it in the end.

In just this year of diving, I have had to push myself more than previous years. My freshman and sophomore years were successful, but I wanted to do more. My teammates influenced me to push myself harder this year, and as a result my performance has elevated. Watching my teammates put all they have into each dive and watching it pay off for them ultimately made me step it up this season. Each practice I take steps to being a better diver. I put aside fear and try new dives, knowing that that is what I need to succeed. My hard-work has paid off thus far, as I now stand second on the school's diving top ten list, and as I head to districts with the hope of getting second and heading to states.

This video is reassuring that successful people aren't always just "born with it." Success requires dedication, sacrifice, and sometimes pain, but that's what makes victory sweeter. It means anyone can be successful at anything they're willing to work for. Something I worked hard for in the past was hurdling during my freshman year. Unlike a lot of the sprinters, I tried to have a good attitude about the workouts and pushed myself in practice and in races, and I scored points for the team in every meet. I also ended up running at districts that year, which was a big deal for a freshman. Sophomore year I had a back injury that meant I couldn't run for most of the season, which is inspiring me to invest everything I have into this season to make up for it.

I like that this video reinforces the idea that people are not just handed success. You must work for it and dedicate yourself to it even if it hurts sometimes. During the beginning of this swim season, I struggled to hit the times that I set for myself. However, I made it a priority of mine to attend every single practice and lifting session to guarantee time drops. Yes, I had to sacrifice a lot of time I could have spent with friends or family and a lot of time I could have been sitting at home watching TV. In the end though, all of that hard-work and dedication paid off because I had gotten the times that I wanted. It was a great feeling and nothing else compares to it.

I do not share a sport like this Olympian that I have worked very hard for. I think a lot of times I do the bare minimum. I used to be an overachiever but now I just do what is required and nothing more. I think the one time I actually worked very hard for something and it turned out well (because a lot of times if I try too hard, I do worse) is driving. I haven't even gotten my license yet but I used to be a terrible driver and I practiced a lot to the point where I could drive by myself but I just don't have legal permission to yet. I have gone on some very long drives, like to University of Virginia in Charlottesville and University of Delaware. Virginia was obviously the longer of the two but it took a lot of mental strength to do it because I was a pretty bad driver.

This video reminds me that in order to have your success pay off, you have to always work hard and keep going, even when it's hard. Something in my life that I have worked hard for is getting good grades. School can be very stressful and overwhelming at times. However, I realized that in the end, all the hard work and dedication I choose to put into my education will only pay off for the future because I did not give up, even when I did not do as well as I hoped.

This video has reminded me about this swim season. I have been working extremely hard. I have been trying to get faster times to make it to states. I do not know if I will be able to make it to states, but the fact that I qualified for Mid Penns has already proven that my work has paid off. At this point in the season last year I was nowhere near the times I am at right now. I know that because of all the hard work and dedication I have during this season, it will bring me farther into post season

Something in my life that I have worked very hard and put a lot of effort into is TSA. This year I chose to do six events which is more than I usually do at one time. I knew it would be a challenge, but in the end it payed off. The hard work and effort I put into each of my events go me 1 first place, 3 second places, 1 fourth place, and 1 sixth place. Another aspect of my life that I put a lot of effort into in volleyball. Between my sophomore and junior years I worked especially hard to improve my skills. I was told as a sophomore that if there were not eight seniors, I would have had a spot on varsity. This made me push myself in the off season so that I could ensure my spot on varsity no matter who was older than me. My hard work paid off because I ended up with a starting varsity position when I was up against six seniors.

Ever since I was in third grade, I have wanted to be in the concert choir. I have always been very self conscious when it comes to singing, so when I finally had the opportunity to audition, I chose not to because I told myself I could never get in. Throughout the next year, Mr. Roden encouraged me continuously to audition the next year, so I practiced and practiced to fully prepare myself for the audition. When my audition came around, I was nervous, but I did it, and Mr. Roden saw potential in me, so he accepted me into the concert choir. My hard work had paid off, and I finally achieved my childhood dream of being able to share my talents with the high school concert choir.

All throughout my life, I have had soccer. Practice at least twice a week, and tournaments at least once a month. Extra workouts, especially in the summer, were always squeezed into my schedule, as well. The saying, 'blood, sweat, and tears' comes to mind when I think about all that I have put into this sport. And it all paid off when I had a gold district medal around my neck last year. Then, to carry it into states, the team made it to the quarterfinals. But, that was not the end of our run. This year, we put in even more hard work and made it to the semifinals of states. Every year that I have been in this program, we have set some kind of school record, which is something I am,and I know the rest of my team is, very proud of.

Thanks for sharing this inspirational video, Abby. It is amazing to see how much dedication and perseverance are needed to become an elite athlete. As someone who has played sports and run my entire life, I'm still in awe of how much your will and determination can push you through physical challenges. A few years ago, I decided to run a 50K, which is over 30 miles. It was a huge commitment to train and log all those miles, but I did it and am so proud of that achievement. In the commercial, I also love the fact that his lines rhyme, like a poem, and it ends with his smile. A true sign of the accomplishment and victory he feels.

Something that I have worked really hard for is my grades. Although a part of education is genetic, the other part is hard work. I work hard every day, in school and out to get the grades that I am reaching for. Sometimes its not easy, as I'm sure everyone in this class knows, but in the end when I get my final grades for the semester I am proud of all the work I put in to get to that point. This year has been especially hard with the class load that many of us, as juniors, have taken on. AP Calc is kicking a lot of our butts. But, when we look back at this year, we'll be able to see that all the work that we put in for that class - PSJs, POWs, every MCM and FRF - will be worth it in the end.
