         <description><![CDATA[<div>In September of 1940 the U.S. passed the Selective Training and Service Act of 1940. The Act made it mandatory for all men age 21 to 45 register to be drafted. If you were drafted you were required to serve at least one year in armed forces. By the end of the war 50 million people registered and 10 million were drafted.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>During the war about 350 thousand women were serving in the war either in other countries of in the United States. Because men were enlisting in the war there were many holes to fill in the industrial labor. This caused the U.S. workforce for women to increase from 27 percent to 37 percent. </div>]]></description>

During the war that number grew to 65 percent because of all the men that were leaving for the war. A big way they got women to help with industrial work was by the Rosie The Riveter campaign. </div>]]></description>
