         <description><![CDATA[<p>1) Provide them a snack for the day if they are feeling sad or not interested in learning to keep them engaged.</p><p>2) Help them stay organized, help them clean their desks and lockers to give them a feeling or sense of renewal.</p><p>3) Always offer a schedule of their day so that they can anticipate and look forward to what is next.</p><p>4) Always remind them that you are there to help them. If no one else is listening to them or if they feel like they are not being heard, they can always come to you for help.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Have the students in a circle and toss a ball to them and ask "if they did anything cool over the weekend".. This can also be used after a lesson "anything cool that you learned" </p><p><br/></p><p> On Fridays the Star Student can share\bring something from home and share it with the class and the students take time asking the star student questions that they brought or questions about that students in general</p><p><br/></p><p>Emotional thermometer is one that i have used just quickly before starting small group lessons and such.</p><p><br/></p><p>I want to try Name Toss, I will most likely use that one on the first day of school just to get to know everyone's name and how to properly pronounce it.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Strategies</strong></p><ul><li><p>Functional Fridays - I like to use functional "Fun" Fridays as a way to help build relationships. Usually it includes a theme for the day that corresponds with a current event. We try and make sure that we find current events that students seem interested in. For Example International Lego Day and build the days learning around that event.</p></li><li><p>Cooldown Talks - Most kids get overwhelmed and just want an adult to listen to them. I always try to offer that as an option for taking a break and it grows a relationship.</p></li><li><p>Answering Questions - I always try to have time and answer questions from students as fast as I can. In a SPED classroom it is important to many of the students to be heard even if you don't have an answer right away. If they raise their hand I give them an expectation of when they will get an answer from me so they don't think that I am ignoring them.</p></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>1)Meet students at the classroom door every morning with a positive attitude and also for me to notice anything different about that student and think of how I can help make their morning better.</p><p>2) Parent/ teacher open communication. I will have 3 year olds that probably won't be able to communicate effectively so having open communication with parents will be very helpful</p><p>3) Class playlist- I would love to know my students favorite song or lullaby so that we can play therm during music and movement time</p><p>4) All about me- I would love to do this in order to know more about my students so that I can have certain things ready for them in case they are having a bad day, I can just pull out a plushy that I know they love.</p><p>5) I would love to try the 5x5 assessment and the 2x10 strategy because I think those are great ways to observe a student and gain insights on their strengths and weaknesses. </p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I think I would really like to use the <strong>Appreciation, apology, aha </strong>strategy. Having students "share an appreciation for another person in the room, an apology they’d like to offer, or an “aha” moment they experienced that day" would be a great way to assess myself for the day and is a good way to understand anything that is happening maybe outside of the classroom that I may not have seen. I also like the <strong>5x5 assessment. </strong>I think that would help me pull myself back to thinking about the whole child not just as academic and functional lif goals</p>]]></description>
