He would do anything to protect them. A good trait that he has is that he spends time with them. He loves telling his children stories and educating them about time, space, methods, etc. Even though they do not seem to have any money around Christmas, he still tries to make it up to his children by giving them marbles, a slingshot or whatever he can get his hands on to give to his children for Christmas. It's like he makes up for when he drinks..
