To enforce the country's "phase two" guidelines on so-called "social distancing," the game center was closed from 10 a.m. on Sunday. The closure will last until 6 a.m. on Aug. 29, Kangwon Land Inc. said.

Yonhap reported that more than 2,200 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in South Korea in the nine days to Saturday.

The media said that under the second phase of the rules, karaoke rooms, nightclubs, internet cafes and buffets that are deemed "high risk" should be closed. Under protocol, indoor gatherings of more than 50 people and outdoor events of more than 100 people are prohibited.

Kangwon Land closed its casino at the end of February due to the spread of COVID-19 infections in Korea.

Some casinos reopened in May, but only in VIP areas, not on the main floor. In late May, the resort operator said it was postponing the reopening of the public market floor again.

Kangwon Land reported a loss of 45.56 billion won in the second quarter, compared with a profit of 50.94 billion won in the previous year's quarter. Results for the latest quarter still improved from a loss of 156.1 billion won recorded in the first three months of 2020, according to data filed on Aug. 11.

Kangwon Land Resort is about 150 kilometers (93 miles) from Seoul, the capital of Kangwon Land.
