         <description><![CDATA[<div>A scientific theory is an explanation of observations or events based on knowledge coming from many observations or theories whereas a scientific law is a rule that describes a pattern in nature. Unlike a scientific theory that explains why an event occurs, a scientific law only states that an event will occur under certain circumstances. <br>An example of this is when scientists once believed the Earth was the center of the solar system. In the 16th century a man named Nicolaus Copernicus hypothesized that the Earth and the other planets orbited around the sun. He created a scientific theory by questioning the already existing scientific theory of the earth being the center of the solar system.<br><br>-Adding information In a study-<br>When new information is added to study it might support or oppose the scientific theory. If it opposes the theory the scientific theory must be modified or discarded all together.
