The reason to that is because you’re probably angry at yourself and you are thinking about why you didn’t do well in school. So if you don’t do well in school you will not get very far in life and if you do get far in life you will have a lot of happiness in your life.

Then it would be sort of like a life in a jungle. But in that life, you will not be healthy, hygienic and comfortable (sleeping on top of a army ant nest for example) and it is relatively easier to die (comparing the chance of being assassinated by burglars to dying without food, shelter, water and wild animals)

On the other hand, if your meaning by "best things in life" are good shelter, clean water, cooked food, technology, emotions, family, school and applications for jobs. Then life is NOT free. But you get a chance of being healthy, hygienic and comfortable IF you do the right choices. But select 1 or more wrong choices, and you might as well be in a jungle. 

Morale of this post : Do the right choices and not the wrong ones. If you succeed your life will be most rewarding with happiness and other good things. If you fail, try again so you can succeed one day.

 Life isn't free because to keep us alive we need to use money for food,shelter and our clothing. We need food or we will suffer to our death, we need shelter or we may get sick and that could cause death.. I don't think I need to explain why we need clothing. 

The best things in life are free such as our family, which we have since we were born, our friends, where
 we find at school ( we do need to pay for school,though..),the people we love, the people who will never give up on us and so on..So I guess I will say both.
