The connection between what roger and what he does to Mrs. Jones is that he steals her purse to get money to buy the shoes he wanted. The outcome was that later in the story, she confronts him, and takes roger into her house. After a while he wasn’t scared anymore and starts to feel more comfortable. The inference i can make is that stealing shouldn’t be what you do for a living.
