Without globalization, we would be very delayed in terms of technology and medicine. Without globalization, poverty would spike through all countries because globalization creates jobs, take South Korea for example which was a country with no materials and in poverty and would have stayed in poverty if it were not for the company Samsung that relies on globalization to sell and produce their products. Samsung uses factories in different countries and without globalization Samsung would be nothing, therefore leaving South Korea and the 91,334 male and 32,873 female workers in poverty. On average Samsung sells 74.5 million smartphones worldwide which is a result of positive globalization. The world needs globalization because it helps all humans positively congregate and make amazing things.

This means that companies can offer goods at a lower price to consumers. The average cost of goods is a key aspect that contributes to increases in the standard of living.

According to OECD it says "concluded that a 1% increase in trade leads to a 0.58% increase in CO2 emissions for the average country" (OECD). This shows that a lot of countries create a lot of pollution. This 0.58% of pollution can cause less trees and more trash in the ocean. Which kills more sea creatures which just causes more problems.

One of the pros of globalization is that it's able to lift people out of poverty. According to the 2022 Poverty and Shared Prosperity Report, 648 million people in the world, about eight percent of the global population, live in extreme poverty, meaning that they live on less than US$2.15 a day. To add on, it can be stated that “Globalization gives all nations access to a wider labor pool. Developing nations with a shortage of knowledge workers might, for example, “import” labor to kickstart industry” (hbs.edu). Not only that, but another article demonstrates that “Developing nations experience an improved standard of living—thanks to globalization. According to the World Bank, extreme poverty decreased by 35% since 1990. The target of the first Millennium Development Goal was to cut the 1990 poverty rate in half by 2015. This was achieved five years ahead of schedule in 2010. Across the globe, nearly 1.1 billion people have moved out of extreme poverty since that time.” The addition of new, good-paying jobs that don't require any skill will ultimately rebuild the economy and diminish poverty around the world, giving many low-classed citizens access to pay and worker protection.

Globalization is good because one of the many perks of globalization is it spreads knowledge and technology. According to “motion point.com” it states, “In order to cooperate globally, companies must share similar technology and a technological structure. E-commerce, for example, allows companies to sell products worldwide through Amazon. Similarly, a centralized base of knowledge allows companies to quickly transfer information and develop innovative solutions. For example, in the healthcare sector that means new medications and medical devices can go to market faster in different countries". This is good because companies can reach the global market more easily, leading to the increase of innovation, globalization played an important role in upgrading employment and wages for skilled and unskilled laborers.

It also causes people to lose jobs, from 1998 to 2021, the U.S. lost more than 5 million manufacturing jobs thanks to the growing trade deficit in manufactured goods with China, Japan, Mexico, the European Union, and other countries. Not shown in the chart are the loss of more than 70,000 manufacturing plants over roughly the same period (1998 to 2019).

According to the source entitled "The Pros and Cons of globalization" it can be said "globalization increases the returns to capital in rich countries like the U.S. and decreases the returns to labor in those same countries." In other words, low skill jobs in the US disappear as a result of globalization. The result is a decrease in the inequality between countries.

According to National Geographic, "Critics also suggest that employment opportunities for children in poor countries may increase negative impacts of child labor and lure children of poor families away from school. In general, critics blame the pressures of globalization for encouraging an environment that exploits workers in countries that do not offer sufficient protections."

Globalization is bad because although there are many positive things that spread from the international trade, we must consider that for every game, theres a winner and a loser. We live in the major popularity of the economic sucess of the USA, under the lead of our president and government. But, there are other countries that are on the other end of the spectrum, and globalization just sets them up for failure in the future. To prove this, we must look at the past, and the history of globalization as history is where we grow today. According to 'bucknell.edu', "By 1840, the English parliament decided to convert India from a manufacturing country into a country that specialized in exporting. As a result, India would have to export their recourses to England in the form of raw materials only to buy them back at a higher price, after they had been manufactured into goods. Which created an economic gap between England and India." Globalization grows the economy, not the world economy as a whole. It grows the countries that lead world power, and the countries that steps on the other smaller countries that may be struggling. In the same article, the author continues to say that "In 1948 when England became the biggest power in India; violence, starvation, and corruption overtook the country. As a result, England continued to tax India heavily and export its recourses." This is historical proof of the past and history, that proves the point that the downsides of globalization out weighs the pros. Not to mention, there are cons such as the spreading of physical, and internet viruses, invasive species, inflamation, increases in potential global reccessions, and natural effects such as pollution and global warming.
