Organised communities can recognise what needs they have and get them met: e.g. a lack of fresh healthy produce in an area could be helped by a community-organised garden, or a lack of free social spaces could result in community-organised film screenings, games nights, potlucks, etc.

Communities can create resource libraries for things such as tools, materials, food, books (existing libraries are also wonderfully sustainable), clothes...

...reducing our levels of product consumption and our environmental impact.
The idea of sharing resources among people, giving away what you don't need and asking for help when you need it, extends to social issues too. People can't always afford to buy what they need, and this can have a devastating impact on quality of life.
