“You are what what you eat eats.”
― Michael Pollan
With modern day food production, it's easy to forget what strange processes go into making the food for your food. When you eat a steak, it's important to know what goes into the cow before it also goes into your own body.
I wonder how some chemicals that are in foods might be negatively affecting people's bodies. On the other hand, I am not sure if there is research out there to support it one way or another, so I will have to look into that. What is a GMO anyway? Those are just some of my thoughts. Thanks!

“The food you eat can be either the safest and powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison.”

“Every time you eat or drink you either feeding disease or fighting it.”
Food. Health. Life.

These three words have so much significance. What you eat determines if your body, health, will have to fight diseases, which either causes life or death. Having a healthy balance diet of all six food groups can ensure you are retaining the right nutrients. After a few years in healthcare, I cannot stress how much studies enforce an accurate balance of fruits, vegetables, whole grain and lean meats. These are only a few items that are recommended. What causes diseases is the over consumption of high fat foods, processed meat, and sugar-sweeten beverages, just to list a few. These diseases can cause heart failure, diabetes, strokes etc. A well-balanced diet and healthy lifestyle of exercising can affect not only your physical state but your mental and emotional as well.

I could not choice only one quote. These two quotes sum up the importance of what you eat can have a positive or negative effect it has to you.

"I love you like a fat kid loves cake!"- Scott Adams
This quote is an interesting and fun way to express your love to someone. It is a common theory that fat kids love everything from sweets to salty items! This makes it easier for the recipient to understand the meaning behind the amount of love. It is also one to make a person smile. It may be just me, but having the image of a chunkier child staring down a decadent chocolate cake gives me the biggest grin! The words "I love you" can get repetitive at times. The individual on the receiving end of those words could think to themselves "Yeah yeah, I hear that all the time. But do you really mean it?" When you use a understandable simile to show just how much you love someone, that leaves no room for questions. They know exactly what you mean!
9/21/19

Think about the last gathering with friends and family that did not include food. Holidays, birthdays, family reunions. Food is typically involved with celebrations of many sorts. It also can be a part of moments that bond people together for example, weddings, funerals, babies, graduations. Food and family is a part of especially important moments in time for the people involved.
“persistence” ― Jimmy Moore, Keto Clarity: Your Definitive Guide to the Benefits of a Low-Carb, High-Fat Diet

I know that this quote is very short, but when I was looking up quotes to share this one stood out more than the rest. I have been living a Keto lifestyle for around five months. At first, it was very boring. The food was bland and not interesting. I ate nothing but eggs, chicken, and meat all the time. Not that I ever usually complain about steak, or anything else off the grill for that matter, but I also enjoyed potatoes and other sides that I couldn’t have after starting this diet. It was then that I decided that I needed to make changes to my meal plan, or I would never be able to remain persistent.

Most of my life was based around bad choices when it came to food, so it was very hard to change. It had to start right away. I had gotten to the heaviest I had ever been in my life. Food was a way for me to feel comfort but was also becoming a life-threatening addiction. I started seeing a new medical provider and she instantly told me I had to change, or I was going to get sick. I have four daughters, so it became paramount for me to take her advice. I want to be around for a long time to see them grow up.

During the first four weeks, or so, I didn’t know if I was going to be able to continue this kind of lifestyle. I was hangry, bored, and anxious. The food wasn’t cutting it at first. I wanted to sneak in some McDonalds or Taco Bell. MMMMM…. Chalupas! I did not give in though. I developed a routine that kept me on track everyday so that I would not waiver. During work was the hardest. I am a corporate manager in convenience retail, so there are always poor food choices around me. It would have been easy for me grab candy bars and potato chips to snack on, but I didn’t. Instead I learned to grab for meat snacks and to read as many nutrition labels as I could to find other things to eat. I cannot remember the last time I have felt as good as I do and am also a smaller size than I was in junior high school. To date I am down over 70lbs and I think I will be able to remain persistent for a long time thanks to the support I have at home, and at work.

9/22/19

Dad would plant this big vegetable garden. We would spend all summer maintaining it. And have the best meals with the fresh vegetables. When harvest time came we would can the food for meals during the winter. Till this day Dad still grows his garden and hands food over to us adult kids (even though just about all of us grow our own).
9/23/19

"
Adelle Davis
It's to be said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, meaning the king is the most important. A step down from the king is the prince, meaning you shouldn't eat a whole lot for lunch. The pauper is the lowest, meaning you should eat a light dinner if you had a big breakfast and or lunch. Although I was never one to be a big breakfast eater. I mostly just eat cereal, but eggs and toast if I have time in the morning. People don't usually eat big breakfasts unless otherwise. Lunch on a weekend is a must! Dinner for me has always been big. I always try to fit some veggies or fruits in it. Now that I'm always busy all the time I usually just grab something on my way home or make something easy. In all, food is amazing but you should watch how much you eat daily. 9-23-19

" Food is our common ground, a universal experience." - James Beard
This quote means a lot more than just the aspect of food. It tells about it's connection with the world. It's about how it can bring people together no matter who you are. It doesn't matter who you are good food will always make you happy and the cooks will be happy seeing you happy. They type of food served in different areas of the world can also show a lot about the history of the area. If fish is what the area is known for then odds are fishing is very dominant in that area. It is something that has also brought many cultures together. It has combined many cultures together with food.
9/24/2019

"Food is memories"

Certain foods have the ability to jog a memory just like any place can. The taste, the smell, can bring up the memory of a time or a person specifically. For me, when I even think of apple pie and vanilla ice cream together, I think of my Grandpa Dana.

Back in 2017, my Grandpa Dana was diagnosed with Stage 3B lung cancer. He spent 6 months in the hospital in Florida where he lived until in July my Dad drove him to North Carolina to live with him. His 70th birthday was coming up at the end of July and he wanted all his kids and grandkids to get together to celebrate. We all flew out to my Dad's house to have a party for him. One night, I told him I was going to run to the store and asked if he wanted anything. He requested apple pie and ice cream. I was fully accepting of this idea as apple pie and ice cream was my favorite. I got back from the store, made him his apple pie and ice cream and brought it to him and saw his face light up. We sat, enjoying our warm, delicious apple pie and talked about his life. We hoped and prayed for many more birthdays like this one. Unfortunately, by September that year, my Grandpa passed away. Now, whenever we have apple pie and vanilla ice cream together, I think of him and that time together. It doesn't matter if the pie is the best of not, it's the memory that comes with it.
9/23/19

This quote kind of spoke to me as I was a search for one. The aspect of being able to love especially is the interesting when it comes to this quote. As I sat and thought about this a little, I realized that it is true though. I personally know the affects of what not eating can do to someone. Not eating well or at all can effect you in unbelievable ways mentally, physically, and emotionally. All of us go through life situations that are both good and bad such as school, work, love life, personal relations such as friendships, etc... and a lot of us also choose to use food as a remedy. This could be by over eating or not eating enough. With that being said, all of the influences of not eating healthy meals is at large. You can go to McDonald's right now and get a nice little burger for $1 but say you go somewhere else and get a salad or another healthy option that meets the needs of what we consider healthy for our bodies, the price can go up to $20 dollars. This makes eating healthy harder than it actually should, but as consumers we also need to take a step back and look at what we eat and how much we eat. We need to change our diet accordingly as well in order to be able to to think properly, love properly, and sleep properly.

People often make mistakes and argue with each other. I can think of several times where my family, my relatives, my best friends, or even just random people have fought with me or each other. We often disagree with each other and refuse to acknowledge or respect another's point of view. That is just how life works. However, eating a meal together can often solve a disagreement. It can also further develop a relationship with someone or a group of people, like your friends from that sport you were in. Couples usually do this to get some nice one on one time and to further a relationship between each other, hence why going out to a nice dinner is a popular choice. Thanksgiving as well is a great example of this, as families typically put aside any differences they have to sit down and enjoy a meal together. Despite all our differences, everyone is usually thankful for the times they share with their closest friends and family.
Aidan Endl
9/24/2019
