A Houston College alumna, Cynthia Azari holds a bachelor of arts in government and secondary education. After receiving her undergraduate degree, Dr. Azari attended West Virginia University, where she earned master’s degrees in educational administration and industrial relations in 1977 and 1978, respectively. She also earned a doctorate in educational leadership from Seattle University in 1996. Cynthia Azari served four years as president of Riverside Community College, where she oversaw the education of 20,000 students. In the role, she was responsible for designing a budget reduction plan while also managing the construction of new sports facilities, among other campus buildings. In addition, she served as the Riverside Community College District's interim chancellor. Dr. Azari is also the former president of Fresno City College, the state’s first community college, where she managed 2,000 full-time employees and a $140 million budget.
