The anastomotic leak could have been caused by partial colon removal. Pt also presents with Post-Operative Delirium from gastric bypass surgery. In an effort to lose weight, Pt is suffering worse side effects. Due to the likeliness of a partial colon removal, the GI tract is not fully functional.

The goal is a low-fat, high-fiber diet to keep nutrients moving along and reduce hypertension. Additionally, Pt needs to be educated about a healthier diet consisting of lower sugar and sodium to lose weight more naturally. High protein is also needed to maintain strength and a balanced feeding. As the leak heals, Pt must ease back into an oral diet of easy-to-digest foods, especially purees.
