The way that the actor, Mrs. Salonga, performed the topic or situation is consistent based on the flow of the play. The context and story are well connected with the looks of the characters, the situation, and also the background of the stage where Mrs. Salonga performed the play.

The way they end the play makes me curious about what will happen next to Miss Saigon and to her son after a man comes and takes them away from the scene.

Lastly, the way Mrs. Lea Salonga sang her dialogue and script was very clear. She sang with a loud voice and a clear accent that is very understandable.

An ambitious narrative of a love affair between an American soldier and a Vietnamese woman set during the Vietnam War is skillfully portrayed. The struggles and tragic fate of the two lovers, Chris and Kim, make for a poignant read, particularly when viewed through the lens of Kim's experiences as a young and innocent woman trying to survive in a war-torn country. The attention to detail in the sets, props, costumes, and colors used in the production of Miss Saigon effectively convey the chaos and tragedy of the war, providing an immersive atmosphere. The performance of Lea Salonga as Kim is particularly noteworthy and her powerful voice enhances the emotional impact of the musical. Miss Saigon is a moving and memorable production.

Miss Saigon has been always popular to a lot of people across countries. Yet, they just know it by name and never understood it as a play. They never get to know the great gravity that the play has come to offer.

The consistent flow of the play made a great impact to the audience, which leads us to a conclusion that the play itself portrayed a substantial intensity, it leaves a sense of satisfaction every after lines and lyrics, and it encompasses deep messages regarding spiritual, moral, and intellectual life. In all extent and purposes, its pertinence was exceptionally astounding to begin with, a timeless and passing theme, not to mention how relatable it is as of the moment.

Miss Saigon is indeed an iconic play that we need to recognize from time to time, because Lea Salonga has touched the deepest core of our hearts. She sung the song with desperate emotions, with firing passion, and all-out aptitude that gave justice to another quality of a good play: speakability—aside from acting it out naturally, she still gave an amazing influence, leaving a mark to her name, shouting silently that she deserves to be on stage.

A good play, indeed. It is a magical story, a perfect pitch of melody that everyone would choose to watch and hear into.

In the given clip of the play, “Miss Saigon”, the consistency of the story is consistent aided by the fact that it follows a linear plot. And it because of that, it is easy to follow and understand while keeping the story of the Vietnamese girl, portrayed by Lea Salonga, interesting.

The lines, or rather, song, in this case, is delivered beautifully and has a very touching meaning as she sings for her son. Plus, the stage was made specifically to accommodate the actions of the characters in the play almost creating a small universe within the stage and we see the characters as they go about their life.

The flow can be somewhat overlooked in this instance since we watched only a portion of the whole play, but the richness and the gravity of it leaves a lasting impression in the audience about the life of this Vietnamese girl and her son to an American soldier. It also touches on subjects of sex work and prostitution, children birthed outside of marriage, and parents giving support to their children.

Overall, the play is a good social commentary about the lives of the lotus blossom stereotype at the time, and is greatly enhanced by the performance of the actors that played the characters.

It’s tragic.

The song's lyrics and the body language of Lea Salonga portray the story of a mother vowing her son that she will give her life to him. This means she has no hesitations about going through heaven and hell to give him all that she can as she realizes that she’s all her child has in the world.

The video started tender, same with the song, and the appearance of the characters. The mother provides the audience with pieces of her past, her love for his father, and her hopes for him and his future. At the end of it, her tone raises a few octaves as she finishes off with fierce determination (hence the look on her face) to fight for his place in the world. But though it’s a song from a mother to her child, I couldn’t help but think of it as a part of the play that foreshadows a tragedy. Something that might happen based on how it ended with the two of them walking away with a zombie (?) who might be the dead father.

Mrs. Lea Salonga delivered an outstanding performance from the Miss Saigon play, singing the song “I’d Give my Life for you”. Indeed, I was amazed on how she also conveyed that deep message through singing and her portrayal of the character is magnificent and emotional that positively affects the flow of the play.

It delivered such emotion on her character portrayal as mother that would give all to her child, to protect, grant wishes, the ultimate sacrifice as part of the theme, and that emotion of that character managed to affect the audiences, including me. Took me a some time to analyze the performance and the one of the qualities that reach that top tier is the intensity of the play including it’s gravity, speak-ability and the richness as all of these qualities portrays and relates towards parents especially mothers who love their children. Miss Saigon was based during the Vietnamese War and this part of the play speaks for the women and children during the war while men sometimes don’t mind the family hardships or are on battle, and Lea Salonga nailed the state of the character throughout her wonderful singing.

Overall, the performance was great, it showed so much good qualities. The acting, the dialogue from the songs as an opera or musical type was delivered nicely, like in a good level of art, and I do also admire the stage performance of other characters including the props and background extras and setting. Lea Salonga performed really well throughout the video duration from the Miss Saigon play.

In this song, she affirms that he was born out of love. She vows that she will give her life for him if necessary. The lyrics foreshadow the tragedy she and her son experience later in the play. They gave the characters powerful goals and were a part of the era's society. which might make you want to consider some of our current ideas regarding racial, cultural, and sexual issues and how they impact people's lives today if the truth of that makes you uncomfortable. Actors and Actresses nailed it. They performed passionately and it was so realistic.

Leah Salonga known as the broadway legend and her leading man made the highlight of this work. It was so creative, the lightning and other visuals are so effective. The intensity of their scenes are so impressive.

Though there are some romantic scenes here but the main characters didn't end up with each other. Destiny has other plans for them. The song Sun and Moon is used to expressed the love of Chris and Kim toward each other.

Miss Saigon is centered on the life and journey of a 17-year old recently orphaned Southern Vietnamese bargirl named Kim, who met and fell in love with an American sergeant named Chris at the later part of theVietnamese war. It tells of the many dreams the women had in spite of the war, and the measures they had to take to try to get off the borders of the country. It gradually spirals to the truth that sometimes, absences do not make the heart grow fonder, instead they make it forget. This was depicted in the tragic event of Chris not going back to Vietnam to find and marry Kim, but-wholesomely countered by the extremely genuine love and hope Kim had for him by single-handedly taking care of their son Tam and protecting him from the cruelty of Communist Vietnam and Kim’s past betrothed, Thuy. The movie then finally drops into the dawning of reality that things do not always go to plan. This was clearly shown when Kim found out that the love of her life was actually already married to an American girl named Ellen, and when instead of just taking Tam to the States and supporting Kim financially, Chris ends up holding a dying Kim in his arms, probably not killed by the gun itself, but by the fact that she would lose the entirety of herself when both Chris and Tam finally leave her.

Lea Salonga has reached the very center of our souls, making Miss Saigon a classic play that we occasionally need to acknowledge. She declares in this song that he was conceived out of love. Kim, as portrayed by Mrs. Lea Salonga, is the subject of her vow. Young woman Kim understands that she is her child's only connection to the outside world.

Lea Salonga's body language and the lyrics of the song depict the story of a mother promising her kid that she will sacrifice all for him. She knows she's the only thing her child has in the world, so she has no qualms about giving him everything she's got, even if it means traveling through heaven and hell.

The actors who performed the characters significantly improved the play's ability to make a social commentary about the lotus blossom cliché that was prevalent at the time.

In the clip showing Lea Salonga/Kim performing the song “I’d give my life for you”, she portrayed a mother’s love for her child, expressing the extent she would go beyond for her child and emphasizing the sacrifices a mother goes through. Moreover, the lyrics described how devastating the effects of the war are and that they are deserving of more.

Kim’s pronunciation while singing was clear enough for the audience to understand very well and her acting was well executed, she showed pure expressions of a mother ready to make sacrifices. The clip alone gave a glimpse of a flawlessly performed tragic love story. The sequence of the play is easy to understand and done in an exemplary manner.

Lea Salonga's portrayal of the character of Kim in the musical Miss Saigon is a powerful and nuanced performance that showcases her vocal and acting abilities. Salonga brings a strong emotional intensity to the role, capturing the character's journey from innocence to heartbreak with sensitivity and authenticity. Her singing in the musical numbers such as "The Heat is on in Saigon" and "I'd Give My Life For You" was praiseworthy for its powerful, emotive and moving essence.

However, it's important to note that the musical Miss Saigon has been criticized for its portrayal of Asian characters and its handling of sensitive subject matter. The character of Kim, in particular, has been criticized for being a stereotypical and submissive Asian woman, perpetuating negative stereotypes. Additionally, the musical has been criticized for its portrayal of the Vietnam War and its lack of representation of the Vietnamese perspective.

In conclusion, while Lea Salonga's performance in Miss Saigon is undoubtedly impressive, it is important to consider the broader cultural context and representation of the characters in the musical.

In the act Lea Salonga portrayed the character kim which was in the musical miss saigon performance. From the given video that I have just watched, I personally think that she did not just portray how good of a singer she is but also how consistent of an actor she is. The facial expressions and present with the lyrics of the song we can absolutely say that it is logically upright of the situation that they are in. Though the consistency of it did not go as planned as for getting intrigue since it is a musical you can almost predict on how it can end. The way she sang the song it can be easily said that it gave all the message to its audience and from the cheering at the end I can assume that they were mesmerized.

The play was never been plain, they kept on doing something, they did not stop at anything, and from that being given it can be said that it was well rehearsed. I was amazed by how it was so serious, they did not lose character from beginning till the end. Everybody or most people can relate to this act, the act of giving, the act of kindness and lastly the love of a mother and if something like this does not make you nostalgic I don't know what will. Lastly, from a viewer standpoint it gave me a huge impact on how I see my family, how they will sacrifice everything for me and made me realize that even though the world is cruel they will always be my side no matter what.

Miss Saigon is undeniably controversial despite being released three decades ago. However, I wasn’t really knowledgeable about the play. I only knew it as a story that was played by Lea Salonga.

The 5-minute video has introduced an overall amazing and sensational musical play performance.

Starting off with the characters, Lea Salonga played a marvelous role being Miss Saigon, also because she is a total performer who can sing breathtakingly and act incredibly at the same time. I could not see anyone who is more suitable for the character other than her.

In terms of setting, the time and place were demonstrated accurately. The lighting was on point and the props were precise and detailed, which were really relevant because the audience had a better understanding and visualization about what was happening during the play. As a viewer, I have seen how unpleasant the place they were living in and that depicts a poor and horrible life. Small details were also seen on their costumes as their clothes manifested their class in the society.

Even if I wasn’t there when the play was presented, I could imagine the audience’s feels and emotions as they were watching. As I was watching, mixed emotions played around. In fact, I was excited and worried at the same time.

The production aspects were seamless and there was also effective stage directions, otherwise the play won’t be that popular.

Furthermore, the conflict made the play more intense and catchy. And lastly, the theme, I could say, was executed competently and effectively — a tragic romance which captured the hearts of so many people.

Overall, the acting and singing were great, and even the instrumental made me greatly involved and invested in watching the play. Knowing that the performance never had spoken dialogues makes me give my utmost respect and appreciation for it was truly spectacular and almost exemplary.

This stage piece, based on Puccini's opera Madama Butterfly, depicts the narrative of an American GI bound to love in Vietnam during the 1970s and a war in which she falls in love with a wonderful dancer. When fate or destiny brings that dancer to Vietnam, they meet, but there are severe problems, including his having to confront his 4-year-old son Tam, and tragedy will soon follow.

Overall, despite the poor video quality and the many dark scenes—far too many—that make me uncomfortable, the performance is enjoyable, especially the dancing. Lea Salonga, who played Kim, still demonstrates or proves that she has no equal in this role of hers, Leo Tavarro Valdez, who played the Engineer, who despite some flaws, understood the role, Will Chase, who played the classic of a romantic lead character, Chris, who was impressive with his great vocal performance and his stage presence, and for the other actors and actresses, who were able to bring something new and their own take on the role and In short, the characters were great, Even though it is a stage play, they act like professionals, and they are still professionals.

The Clashing Forces of War and Love: A Critique of the Musical Miss Saigon

More than a tragic love story between two cross-cultural, star-crossed lovers, whose fates happened to intertwine in such a dark moment in the world’s history, Miss Saigon is a poignant depiction of a kind of love much more persevering, unconditional, and sacrificial than that shared by a couple: a mother’s love. Taking place in the City of Saigon during the tipping point of the infamous Vietnam War, this play follows the life of an orphaned prostitute named Kim, who upon working in a brothel, meets and falls in love with an American G.I. who, due to the call of his duty, unwillingly leaves her in Vietnam, pregnant with their baby unbeknownst to him, before he could even take her to America. The story ended rather tragically when her former lover, who has been married for three years to an American woman, returns to Asia and decides to evacuate their child Pam to America at her bidding, while she, having lost any future with her greatest loves, surrenders her own life.

Written mainly based on the perspective of two French White men, Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg, this play, apart from the huge share of critical appraisals it garnered, holds a fair amount of backlash for its somewhat racist and stereotypical portrayal of Asian women and its subtle perpetuation of White supremacy through the overused White savior trope. Kim, the Vietnamese main character, was largely drawn as a submissive and powerless woman who depends on the mighty, autonomous White soldier to rescue her from her miserable and destitute life. Meanwhile, Chris, the main character’s American G.I. love interest, was portrayed as a trauma-driven character whose multiple exposures to war violence and atrocities left him broken and confused about his true purpose. The short-lived love he shared with Kim during his stay in Asia served as the antidote to his identity crisis—the healer of his brokenness. From a broader perspective, this can be interpreted as another story of a White man who uses a person of color as some sort of bridge or “rehabilitation center” for him to attain personal growth and redirection in his life and a woman whose character was downsized to a mere instrument necessary for the male lead’s character development. Arguably, Miss Saigon fell short of executing a fair representation of ethnicities and genders, as shown by the stereotypical nature in which its characters were written; watching it, even the average audience could easily infer that it was written by a White male persona.

On the other hand, it is only fair to acknowledge that despite its major failure in providing an account of the Vietnam war that is not White-centric and sexist, Miss Saigon redeemed itself to a certain degree by at least adding an important aspect in its main character Kim that sets her free from the confines of the “a woman who is a slave of love” archetype. The scene in the play that truly captured this is when Kim, who could only be described at first as the Vietnamese prostitute who fell in love with an American G.I., sings “I’d Give My Life for You” to her son Pam, showing that she is not just someone else’s lover but a devoted and resolute mother, too. This musical scene somehow asserts that Kim’s character arc is not solely about a failed relationship with a man but also about a mother’s willingness to do anything for her child’s well-being—this was maintained until the end of the play when Kim sacrificed her life not because she lost the man he loves but because she wanted a better life for her child, which entails sending him away from her. Based on the lines she sang in this scene alone, the play sends across a message, clearly: Kim’s character is up for a bigger, more meaningful cause that is not just romance.

Apart from how its characters were written, it is needless to say that Miss Saigon, in its own right, holds a strong historical and political significance and impact on society. The play is undeniably “woke” in the sense that it fluently integrates the social circumstances during the time it was set into its main storyline, even developing them into a complex, collective conflict that the protagonists had to traverse throughout. Put simply, the play is beyond reality-aware, having successfully utilized the reality of a chunk of the past as its greatest plot device. Set amidst the Vietnam War, the play highlights the monstrosities that come with warfare—how much destruction it causes to partakers and bystanders. War, ultimately, was the reason why Chris had to leave Kim in Vietnam, cutting short their love story. It is also the reason why Kim had to send Pam to America with his father, pleadingly, and why she killed herself. On account of this, Miss Saigon proves itself successful in showcasing that war, on a greater scale, is not so much a matter of which nation has won and which has lost, but more of whose lives have to be sacrificed and branded as “collateral”—expendable—in the name of a “greater” cause that is no more than asserting dominance and power. Indeed, this play’s greatest strength lies in how it gradually brings its hidden agenda to the surface: to show that war brings more harm than good.

Lastly, in acknowledgment of the fact that a play’s value lies not only in how well it was written but also in how effectively it was brought to life, it is important to emphasize how Lea Salonga’s performance as Kim’s actress served as one of Miss Saigon’s chief springboards for success. With her expressive face and body language and well-modulated singing voice, which coincided accordingly with the underlying context of her scenes, she was able to more than sufficiently bring Kim’s character to life and evoke certain emotional states in the audience, keeping them at the edge of their seats throughout.

With all things considered, Miss Saigon is an important theatrical treasure that combines history and romance to set the stage for a socially relevant story that primarily revolves around a Vietnamese woman who goes through love, devastation, and motherhood with a dystopic war in the background. Encountering some major failures in the racial and gender undertones of its plot and characterizations while also proving itself a success in reinforcing certain truths and meanings about war and people, this musical should serve as a constant subject of political and cultural discussions both in the theatre and in the literary scene.

To begin, I must say that Lea Salonga's singing and acting abilities impressed me. Despite my lack of familiarity with the play, I thought the context of the 5-minute clip of the play explored the beauty of maternal love, making it clear that a mother's devotion and commitment to her child goes beyond anything else.

I could feel her emotion as she expressed her love for her son, looking at him with so much adoration and determination to protect him. Her tender gaze, her gentle touch, and her overflowing love were evident in every move she made as she cared for her son. The lyrics of the song and Kim's heartfelt performance further enhanced the overall impact, as she proclaimed her commitment to protecting her child and providing them with a better future.

The flow of the performance from beginning to end was seamless, especially when people were coming and singing together at the end, and the stage setting completely changed, giving the impression that something was going to happen next. It was intriguing.

To conclude, the combination of music, lighting, costumes, props, setting and the talent of the performers was remarkable. However, I believe it would have been preferable if her son had interacted with her when she approached him, simply to make things better. But, overall, it was amazing, and I really enjoyed it.

12 HUMSS Jeremiah
Week 6 Activity

Love At War: Critique of the play "Miss Saigon"

It’s one of the most popular shows on Broadway, with a long history of success. Miss Saigon is a classic, Broadway-bound global phenomenon. Filled with powerful music, riveting drama, and unforgettable sound design, this production delivers an original score to match its classic tale of love and war. It’s an epic and tragic story of a young couple in love, caught in a world at war. The play is set forth during the Vietnam War and features elements such as romance, war, and destruction, with the plot focusing on a Vietnamese prostitute who falls in love with an American GI but as the city falls the lovers are separated and Chris went back to the U.S unknowingly leaving Kim pregnant with their baby. The music, the dancing, the costumes, and the sets all add up to one major production; you'll feel like you’re transported back in time as you watch it unfold on stage. Miss Saigon follows a young Vietnamese singer named Kim (Lea Salonga) from her impoverished country to begin a new life in Paris during the Vietnam War. When she meets an American GI named Chris (Willy Falk), they fall deeply in love but must decide between letting their love for each other keep them together or breaking apart when war brings them closer together than either could have ever imagined. With that said, the play explores numerous flaws of the Vietnam War and America's role in it. The point of view expressed by the characters lends a feeling of confusion to their stories while making you question your morals and values on a more personal level.

The first scene of the play is a perfect representation of how women were treated when war happens. The actresses recreated these stereotypes that women in prostitution and brothels, had been forced by war conditions to sell their bodies. This was an excellent way to start the play because we could see exactly how horrendous the conditions were for women, who had no other choice but to become prostitutes. The performance of the actresses portraying their roles in this play was great. The actresses were able to depict their moments of desperation, melancholy, and hope by showing off appropriate facial expressions and bodily movements. Although it's clear they are prostitutes brought into a brothel, they're able to show how desperate they are to get out of there and how much they want a ticket out. The actresses played out their roles of the prostitutes in a very convincing way and managed to bring you the desperation they felt when they were trapped at Dreamland. It was also believable that one of these women might have been someone’s mother or sister, so her character showed strong emotion and made you feel sad about her situation. In addition to the acting, we saw some great set design during scenes where there were lots of people moving from place to place. They accurately depicted what happens in a brothel and the schemes of men seeking pleasure. They also showed the social construct of a woman being a virgin, which in this scene all of the men were very interested in Kim, and I find it interesting that they showed this concept and that the actors portrayed the men at the brothel without fault, showing the desires and temptations. Every song they sing corresponds to a specific scene, making it more appealing to the audience and hooking them on what the actor/actress is singing, which is filled with genuine emotions and conveys a message. The dance scene in the brothel was a touching moment for me because of the way it portrayed a different way of dancing, both more romantic and intimate compared to modern times. The part where Chris and Kim danced in the middle of all the chaos going on in the brothel touched my heart, not just a dance that we in modern society know in bars but that intimate dance between two lovers. Both of them showed normal facial and bodily expressions and I love the part where Chris was making sure Kim was comfortable dancing with him, you could see in the actor’s eyes the genuine care for Kim

The play showed contrasting cultures and ideologies of the world. The play sheds light on the aftermath of the Vietnam War which displayed the war’s cruelty, contradictions, sacrifice, and betrayal. It's all about love, loss, and sacrifice, but it is also set against an international backdrop with contrasting cultures. Utilizing her trademark mix of soaring arias and powerful ballads and belting, Lea brought so much emotion to this song “I’d Give My Life For You.” Her facial expressions were on point and you could feel what she wanted to convey with just her singing. Her vocal ability represents the different facets of emotions experienced by both Kim and her son. She performed with such force and beauty that her performance really drew me in. You could feel Kim's motherly love for her son, and Lea Salonga flawlessly acted and sang this scene, which gave me shivers when she sang the chorus part. Her voice was perfectly modulated, and you could feel her genuine emotions. The song also features Chris as he sings, "Sometimes I wake up reaching for him," as well as Kim's love for Chris prior to their death, as she says, "my heart is telling me something" right after. This musical features some of the best costumes, sets, and staging, demonstrating how art imitates life. The play shows us that what happens in Vietnam does not remain there but affects all those who hear it.

She was mostly recognized for her performance in Miss Saigon, which earned herself a Tony Award. "I'd Give My Life for You," the play in which Lea Salonga starred, was released in 1989. Lea Salonga originated the lead role of Kim in the London premiere of the musical Miss Saigon in 1989. Salonga chose Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg's "On My Own" from Les Misérables for her first Manila audition in 1988, when she was 17 years old.

Miss Saigon's lines were masterfully performed. The power of the voice and the message delivered adds to the intrigue. The concept is potentially about sacrificing yourself for someone you love passionately, notably selflessness and the sacrificial love of a mother. The message is also concerning the way she is expressing her life to her child and her desire to enhance her child's life, in order to provide her child with the greatest potential life and to ensure that her child does not have to go through what she did. Miss Saigon's voice is remarkable since she was able to control her voice whilst still making a huge impact.

Overall, It is a spectacular play. It's delivered wonderfully. The flow of the play is performed perfectly, and you can take numerous lessons from the play.

Miss Saigon had issues right off the bat. Jonathan Pryce's eyes and skin tone were changed to give him a more Asian appearance when he first played The Engineer. Thankfully, the musical's producers changed their minds about using yellowface after Pryce won the Tony and left the production, and Miss Saigon has since become the sole example of a successful Asian American stage actor. However, Miss Saigon continues to be a dated, cringe-worthy musical that ages as well as its history of yellowface in an era where musicals like Hamilton have changed the game when it comes to inclusive storytelling and giving more opportunities to people of color.

Apparently, "Sun and Moon," followed by "The Last Night of the World," the musical's most well-known benchmark song, makes everything OK and the two express their love for one another. In Vietnam, when Kim and Chris were together, they conceived a son, Tam, who is “bui-doi” (pronounced bwee DOY; English translation is ‘dust of life’). Bui-doi were Ameriasian children (one American and one Asian parent) who were often shunned and left behind after the Vietnam War.

In the drama Miss Saigon, Chris, an American soldier, falls in love with Kim, an orphan and prostitute. It is a musical tragedy that occurs in the Vietnamese War era in the 1970s. It portrays the tragic story of a disastrous romance starring an Asian woman who is dumped by her American boyfriend and is based on Giacomo Puccini's 1904 opera Madame Butterfly. One of the most breathtaking stage plays ever presented. Nominated for a massive variety of honors.

The musical Miss Saigon makes us perceive our societal obligation for the numerous American soldier children who are born to women in nations that are troubled by violence but who are never acknowledged by their fathers.

The main character of the musical Miss Saigon is Kim, who is portrayed by Lea Salonga. The crowd is inspired in by the acts of her persona. She is brave and strong, and resilient in her, commitment for humanity. She declined the family-arranged engagement in the presence of love.

Skilled artists from a diverse cast of ethnic backgrounds are given ample options to blossom courtesy to the sang composition. The versatility of its cinematic foundation, however, makes film producers and creators content. The historical drama of Saigon's fall in South Vietnam in 1975 is utilized to powerful advantage in the tragic play. While there is a connection between rock operas and musicals in aspects of imagery, there is also a crossover appeal to be attentive of.

XII - Jeremiah

Miss Saigon was indeed an art; a beautiful piece of literary work. It gave me a glimpse of how chaotic war is on a detailed perspective and despite all of that, there is still light and hope in it.

One of the Stage Musical's highlight was Lea Salonga's "I'd Give my Life for You" performance was a perfect representation of a mother's unconditional love and care to her child. I would also like to mention, a part of the song's lyrics "And you should know it's love, That brought you here" an emotional and powerful phrase that every child must hear and know from their mothers.

Lea Salonga's emotions where all over the place but at the same time, collected. It felt like she was a mess however, appears to be firm and complete. The ambience of the stage, the lightings and the audio effects as well, all have good synchronization on what the scene wants to deliver or portray to the audience. The ending or last part of the scene for me is quite, unclear as I do not understand what those figures or people were all about.

Overall, the scene did an excellent job of trying to elevate Lea Salonga's emotions. Lea Salonga perfectly nailed it, both the delivery of the song and the message that its trying to send.

Miss Saigon is a musical about a young American soldier who falls in love with a Vietnamese woman during the Vietnam War. The play has garnered both praise and criticism from critics for its excellent staging, music, and performances.

The film "Miss Saigon" has been criticized for stereotyping Asian women as exotic and submissive. Kim, the Vietnamese female character, plays the role of a defenseless victim who is ultimately rescued by the white male protagonist. This contributes to negative generalizations about Asian women, such as that they are helpless and need to be rescued.

The play's Vietnam War imagery is another point of contention. The drama focuses on the American soldiers' experience of the war, rather than the Vietnamese civilians who were impacted by it. This furthers the misconception that the war was fought from the perspective of the American military and not the Vietnamese civilians.

The play has also been attacked for its allegedly negative portrayal of Vietnamese culture and society. As a result, negative assumptions about Asians as a whole, like that they are all violent and uncultured, are strengthened.

Overall, "Miss Saigon" is a well-made musical with excellent staging and music, but it has issues with how it portrays Asian women and the Vietnam War. It perpetuates negative stereotypes and fails to consider the experiences of ordinary Vietnamese people.

12 HUMSS - JEREMIAH

Lea Salonga played the role of kim, a character from the musical Miss Saigon. I believe that she demonstrated not only her talent as a vocalist but also her consistency as an actor in the video that I just watched. We can state that the song's lyrics and the characters' facial expressions are rationally appropriate for the circumstance they are in.

We are given strong concepts about culture and conflict, history and tradition, through the act. It gently contrasts interpersonal connections with political control battles on a national scale. It challenges us to think about what sacrifice really is and how much unselfish love we are capable of. The narrative takes place in 1975 in the final days before the US withdrawal of Saigon. The plot of Miss Saigon is about two young lovers who are driven apart by fate but kept together by a raging desire and a young child's fate. With its soaring melody and intense emotions, this musical masterpiece won praise and honors all over the world.

Overall, The actors that performed the characters gave excellent performances, substantially enhancing the play's overall societal criticism at the time.

The musical Miss Saigon has drawn both praise and scorn for how it depicts Vietnamese people and culture. On the one hand, the performance has drawn plaudits for its superb staging and moving score. Some critics argue that this depiction of Vietnamese women as being attracted to and submissive to Western men simply serves to promote unfavorable stereotypes.

In the world of musical theater, Miss Saigon is still a vital piece of culture, but there has been ongoing discussion and criticism about how it handles delicate subjects and portrayal.

It goes without saying that Miss Saigon as a whole, regardless of how its characters were portrayed, had a huge historical and political relevance and influence on society. The play is undoubtedly woke since it deftly incorporates the socioeconomic conditions of the time period in which it is set into its major plot and even turns them into a challenging, intergroup conflict that the protagonists must overcome.

Simply put, the play successfully leveraged the historical accuracy of a big section of its major narrative technique to show that it is beyond reality-aware. The Vietnam War-era drama places a strong emphasis on the horrors of war and the harm it causes to participants as well as bystanders. Due to the conflict, Chris was forced to part ways with Kim in Vietnam, putting an end to their romance. It also clarifies why Kim had to implore Pam to accompany his father to America and why Pam ended her life.
