Discipline should not be an issue in the hub. We have a 0 tolerance policy for discipline issues. If we see this, students will be removed on 1st encounter unless otherwise recommended by the team. However I am not opposed to a matrix. The district suggested this. Part of discipline is restorative practice and it is not just to penalize the kids. A lot of students are cutting classes, thus missing vital instructional time. This loss of instructional time has led to lower/failing grades. I believe the thought behind this was to gain some of that instructional time back and help them improve their grades. All students have an obligation to work on a particular subject. Upon being approached by tutor, students should be able to articulate what their plan for that is and the tutor can gage where to insert themselves to provide help. At any time if a staff member is not needed that staff member should move on to another student/group of students.
