         <title>Chapter 11- Science in the Cloud</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br></div><div><br>This chapter disscusses a school that has had recent budget cuts to the science department as well as photocopying. The teachers in the department worked together to solve the problem of lack of resources and the inablity to pass out paper copies as resources. They determined that they would need an online sharing platform where students could have access to course materials, as well as turn in work. Teachers would also use this platform to share materials and collaborate on course content. They looked at many different platforms such as Google Docs, Amazon, Itunes, and Dropbox. The chose Dropbox and used this to upload course material for student access, as well as have a place for students to turn in their assignments. They determined that this was a good solution to cut down on paper, and still have access to quality content. The text mentioned that a few of the less tech savvy teachers had some initial concerns. To address those concerns and make the transition a smooth one, they broke into smaller teams with each team having some more knowledgable members. This helped the more hesitant teachers. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Additional Strategy &amp; How I Implement in my Classroom/Organization</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Another strategy that I thought of when reading this chapter was the use of Google Drive, Docs, and Classroom. A few years ago we became a co-teaching school so the need for teachers to share information became even more of a necessity. We needed to be able to collaborate simultaneously on lesson plans and share resources. Previously we would need to store our lesson plans on a shared drive. This was only accessible though from the school and that was a problem for teachers needing to change or update plans from home. It was also a problem because we shared plan time with our co-teacher, but we could not both have the same document open at the same time to work on plans. When we received new Chromebooks instead of our old laptops, we converted everything to Google. This has made such an impact on ease and accessiblity. Everything is available from anywhere with internet- goodbye flashdrives! We can create a document and share it with multiple teachers for collaboration. I can access my documents from apps on my phone when needed. I would recommend this to anyone. We also use Google Classroom. I was hesitant to try this, but it really is so easy. We upload assignments and can choose which students have access to them which allows for easy differentiation. Students can turn in work and we waste so much less paper. This year we even had our math fact tests added to the classroom and we can track where each student is electronically and no more running out of fact test copies! </div>]]></description>

         <title>How do These Strategies Improve Instruction &amp; Relate to my Philosophy?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>These strategies bring us up to date in our use of technology and allow for much more collaboration than before. Online platforms save time as well as money and offer many benefits. Not only to teachers, but to students. It is a great way for students to begin to realize that utilizing these types of platforms can allow them access to so many more resources. Work can be completed, stored, and shared from one secure location. Organizing is a challenging skill for many young students. This keeps all of their work and information in one place. This fits into my philosophy in several ways. The use of technology that is effective and meaningful, as well as providing many opportunities to collaborate. Students can work on a project simultaneously from anywhere with internet access. The one challenge may be if all students don't have access to internet outside of the school day. This is the case for many of the students in our district. We utilize these tools as much as we can during the school day, but don't require work to be done outside of school that would require internet access. </div>]]></description>
