What suppressed wants, needs, and even memories force their way through symbolically in hallucinations for Macbeth?

What unconscious desires come through Lady Macbeth's behavior?

Aida
1.The want to kill Duncan and become king finds it's way into his hallucinations. For example when he sees the dagger its his desire to kill Duncan and become king. Later after he commits the murders the memory of killing Duncan and Banquo come to haunt him and now just like Lady Macbeth all he wants is to get rid of the guilt and regret.
2. The desire to wash away the guilt and what she did shows up when she is sleeping and she washes her hands. Also the desire to make the hurt stop is manifesting her in her unconscious state and finally it was to much that she couldn't handle it.

Person 1: Why bother viewing literature through the Psychoanalytic perspective? Why should we still use it to analyze literature?

Morgan Green
1. Viewing this type of literature can give another perspective on the control your mind may have. Also you can find the truth revealed about your unconscious mind and the power it has over "speaking" the truth.
2. We should use it to analyze literature because as found in Macbeth readers could conclude the unconscious state that Lady Macbeth was in and how it soon became her enemy in revealing the truth of her ambitions.

Thompson says when your unconscious your true self is revealed, just like lady Macbeth, but when your awake you can hide your true self and act the way you want to.
