- Teaching isn’t just sitting down in a room learning about academics. Teaching is about more, it’s about life and yourself. Teaching is about possibilities.

I have had multiple teachers in my school years who cared more than just about my grades. They made sure to be educators but at the same time acted as secondary parents. Having experienced such care and intention in their actions it made me want to continue their work. I believe that education is both about learning the content that makes the world a better place (learning our history to improve the future) while also incorporating how to be a good person in a world that is beginning to have less and less of those.

I believe my experiences through out life has shaped my beliefs I hold about teaching. It seems as if every thing I have been through prepared me to be able to be a teacher. I had to learn patience, that everyone learns differently as well as everyone having the potential to learn. I’ve spent the majority of life working with people with autism. Working with people with autism makes you work with and teach people differently and with compassion. That’s a quality that people must have to be an effective teacher. I feel like my experience will allow me to do that.
