When I need a calm and attention, I use to sing a song that I invent and that children sing with me. It becames like a little "mantra" to achieve the silence and the concentration. It says "for learning in peace we need, some silence, some order , some open ears" (while doing mymics).

When I need to catch the attention of my students I say: "who is listening me, please raise the right hand" or "who is listening me, please touch your nose". 
I introduce the phrase in the explanation as if I was not saying anything to them. It is very funny to see how some do it and others follow them. 
Once I got their attention, I smiled to them and we continue with what we were doing.

- "One, two, three look at me,
One, two, three, silence please" In the first part, I point my eyes. In the second part, I point my mouth. When they are listening to "one...two..." they help me to finish the sentence.
