Grace soon discovers that it will summon anything she thinks of, within reason of course. It has to fit inside the purse, and she can't summon copious amounts of money or anything that's alive. While she starts out summoning food, she quickly realizes that she can do more. This is how she can become popular. With her magical purse, Grace summons the latest fashions in clothes, jewelry, and makeup. She transforms herself into someone almost unrecognizable, both to her parents and her best (and only) friend, Jane. Grace catches the attention of the popular girls at her school and finds herself joining their friend group. However, Grace discovers that popularity isn't what she thought it would be and longs for her old life, but she's already distanced herself from everyone and everything that belonged to it.
