Michal, having no political standing, experienced Jews being dragged out of their flats by the S.S. As families were being deported, Jews, including Michal, were thrown onto a truck and were driven to Chelmno, a ghetto. Told they would be sent to the forest to shower with clean clothes to start work, the Nazis then gassed the Jews inside the truck, killing all inside the space. This gassing strategy continued throughout Chelmno as the Jews took occupation in the camp, decreasing the Jewish population day by day. Hitler and the Nazis were pleased with the killing of the Jews, for they believed the "disease" would soon stop spreading.
