My colleagues at the Montessori school where I work part-time are an important part of my community of practice. We regularly share ideas, strategies, and experiences to support children’s learning and development. By observing each other, discussing challenges, and celebrating successes, we collectively refine our teaching practices. Their guidance, feedback, and collaboration help me grow as an educator, and together we create a professional environment that values reflection, continuous learning, and high-quality care for children.

Social media platforms like Pinterest and Instagram Reels play an important role in my Early Childhood Education (ECE) community of practice. These platforms allow me to connect with educators from around the world, share ideas, and discover innovative activities and learning strategies. By exploring lesson plans, classroom setups, and creative projects, I can adapt new approaches to suit the needs of the children I work with. Commenting, exchanging tips, and following other educators fosters collaboration and reflection, helping me stay informed about current trends and best practices in ECE. Social media expands my professional network, providing ongoing inspiration and support that enhances both my teaching and my growth within the ECE community.

My classmates and professors are an essential part of my Early Childhood Education (ECE) community of practice. Through class discussions, group projects, and collaborative assignments, we share knowledge, experiences, and insights about child development and teaching strategies. Professors guide our learning by providing expertise, feedback, and resources, while classmates offer diverse perspectives and practical ideas drawn from their own experiences. Together, we reflect on best practices, challenge assumptions, and support each other’s growth as educators. This collaborative environment helps me develop professionally, refine my teaching approach, and stay connected to a network of peers and mentors who are invested in high-quality ECE.

My placement at an elementary school, along with the teachers and Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) I have met there, forms an important part of my ECE community of practice. Working alongside experienced educators allows me to observe different teaching strategies, classroom management techniques, and approaches to child development. Engaging in discussions, receiving feedback, and collaborating on activities provides practical guidance and support, helping me reflect on my own practice. Interacting with a variety of professionals broadens my understanding of diverse teaching styles and learning environments, fostering a network of mentors and colleagues who contribute to my ongoing growth as an educator.

My family and friends who have children are also an important part of my Early Childhood Education (ECE) community of practice. By observing their children’s growth, behaviour, and learning at home, I gain valuable insights into child development and the diverse ways children explore, communicate, and solve problems. Conversations with parents and caregivers provide practical perspectives on strategies that work in everyday life, challenges families face, and ways educators can support children both at school and at home. Their experiences help me reflect on my teaching approach, adapt activities to meet children’s needs, and strengthen my understanding of family-centred practices, making them an integral part of my professional learning network.
