Originally, I planned to use all the video clips of London scenes shot outside to edit, but when I came back home and began to edit, I found that there were not enough available clips, so I began to shoot my own images at home. I was inspired by Wong Kar-wai's film Chungking Express, and felt that some scenes in the film, in which Faye Wong played a character doing housework in a policeman's house, were very lively and interesting, so I came up with the idea of imitating a similar style. I shot the scene of opening and closing the cabinet door many times, and used it as the transition of my video, switching different pictures with the opening and closing of the cabinet door each time. I also used the picture-in-picture model, editing different pieces together to create an illusion of parallel universes across time and space. This is also the first time that I did not use any songs as background music for editing, and only relied on the background sound recorded during shooting as background music.

The first picture is from a graphic design album of cards, posters and cigarette boxes from the 1950s and 1960s. The picture I have chosen shows the posters in different languages, either printed or written, with different contents: shipyard ship records in Chinese, fish sauce factory advertisement in Thai. I think this is a microcosm of the previous era and a symbol of cross-cultural international communication. I think it's very interesting.

When I got home, I found that the newly bought plants had been blown to the ground by the wind. I'll never know what's going on inside until I open the door. I chose two kinds of borders respectively in the photo editing software of my mobile phone. In the one above, I chose a sort of yes or no: I think it means whether I want to keep the plant lying there. For the next one, I chose a frame that resembles the effect of tearing paper, which I think is similar to the wind blowing plants down in a way.

I found that the number of times hahaha when chatting with a single person is more than the number of times I hahaha in group chats. Perhaps it can be explained to some extent that talking with friends alone can sometimes be more joyful than talking with a group of people.

So I made a collage, tried the possibilities of different ways of layers, and pasted wool that I either straightened or bent to enrich the layers. I used acrylic markers to draw a bit onto as well to add some details and unify the colors.

Different exhibition halls are composed of different elements and colors. The first exhibition hall and the last exhibition hall are red with different brightness, and the main color of the middle exhibition hall is deep blue. I took three photos that I think are representative. The one that impressed me the most was the peach sunset projected on the huge vertical screen in the last exhibition hall. I was amazed by the artist's rich imagination. I think it is very interesting that she associates the sun with peaches. Dark blue, peach pink, and golden colors are superimposed on each other, bright and vivid.

I was inspired by the relationship between dots, lines and planes. I suddenly felt that it would be a good idea to piece together butterflies with different metal strips.

During the process of drawing, I started to image what kind of things or objects could be layered and combined in this way. I link it with human body, way station and so on, after explained my thinking to my tutor and peers, I wrote down my ideas on the sketchbook when I went back home, and I collected their feedback and stocked them on the sketchbook as well. My second tutor mentioned psychogeography after listened to my introduction of the drawing, and I searched the definitions of it from both Tate and Wikipedia and wrote them down as well.

The tutor suggested us to relax and have fun, we were advised to take our layouts from walls to the ground and make a piece of large collage together. Mainly I stick the papers together and make a little bit paper folding works on to. Though the time of making collage wasn’t that long, maybe only 5-10 minutes, we did feel relaxed and less stressed after it. I also was inspired by how others looked and combined various materials together, for example, Emile put the lines around my butterfly which made me feel the layers of my butterfly are richer than before.

As a person who often dreams and is immersed in it, I have always had a certain interest in dreams. After I made metal butterflies, I suddenly thought of a Chinese idiom related to butterflies and dreams:Zhuangzi [庄子] dreams of a butterfly (or is it the butterfly dreaming of Zhuangzi) . It means: I don’t know if Zhuang Zhou turned into a butterfly in his dream, or if a butterfly turned into Zhuang Zhou in his dream. So I mainly investigated the concept of dreamland in English and Chinese allusions.

My second tutor suggested me to read something about the Psychogeography after my explanation of the corridor drawing.Because when I explained, I gave the ordinary walkway different meanings from different angles. (For details, please refer to the pictures and texts in Art tasks) It’s such an brand new word for me, I knew nothing about this concept/ definition before. I am really curious about what it is, and after a little bit research, I think that in a sense, it is an interdisciplinary field that connects human subjective emotions with objectively existing geographical facts.
