Each team member listed their personal hopes and fears for the futurePREP'd experience. Then, we gathered them on one list. It was fun to see that everyone has positive hopes for this experience and that everyone is also a little nervous about some elements. We were able to laugh and learn together as we discovered how people are feeling.

This week, we talked about a variety of stakeholders, started to consider their needs and feelings via empathy maps, did a little research to discover what kind of furniture already exists for our stakeholders, and practiced our public speaking skills as we shared the ideas on our empathy maps.

Today, after refreshing our memories of who our stakeholders are, we worked through the AEIOU protocol so that we could consider activities, environments, interactions, objects, and users that may affect our stakeholders.

With a fresh understanding of our stakeholders and how they might be challenged throughout a day, we set off to investigate the spaces and furniture in our own building. Knowing that 56G is newer, we assumed that the furnishings would benefit most people. We were shocked to discover that we were wrong!

Finally, each team shared their initial thoughts and took notes as peers asked critical questions for improvement. These notes will be the base for next week's work.

All In One Bunk Bed by Abby and Zane

Our stakeholder, is kids who would want more space to play and people who do not have a lot of space in their home/living space. This is our all-in-one bunk bed, with the bunk bed and small. under-stair book nook. There are stairs instead of ladders because our team thinks that ladders are uncomfortable. It includes multiple things that make this the only furniture you need in a room.

The Multi-Bed

Finn, Kai, and Xander made a Multi-Bed for people of all ages with ADHD and small spaces/dorms. We have a 5-in-1 bed; the contents in the multi-bed is the cooler/freezer, a pull-out nightstand, a bookshelf, and you can push the whole bed down into the ground for a in-ground bed that can act as a trampoline. We even made a jingle!

Zoe, Arya and Ella are working on a lazy boy type chair for a small space like a college dorm room or a small apartment. This chair will have an outlet, a desk, can turn into a bed, has a storage compartment, and will be a comfortable way to study. We will update you with more information later! We believe we need more room to learn and have one-on- one space with our teacher. So we decided to build a booth-like table. But we ran into a few problems. The first problem was how big was the room? We went into the team room, and we came up with 4 meters by 2 7/8. We came up with this idea for our stakeholders: teachers and students.

We started with a QFT protocol today: Question Formulation Technique. Teams created questions, changed closed-ended questions to open-ended, conducted some research, and shared their thinking with other teams in order to get some feedback.

After last week's trek into public speaking, we decided to work on honing our skills this week before making our videos for submission next week. We played a number of games to help us work on volume, body language, facial expression, eye contact, inflection, and enunciation. It was both fun and informative.

After playing and practicing, teams began filling out a Google doc with all of the questions from the Michigan Design Council submission survey. Our intent is to get the information filled out, check each other's work before making scripts, and then using the finalized work on the Google docs to complete the submission information.

It is hard to believe that this cohort is almost done!
