Soloman and Vannak’s experiences with slavery are similar in many ways. One way they are similar is they were both looking for work, kidnapped and then sold into slavery. In the video it said that Vannak was thrown in the back of the trunk with a black tarp over him and the others while being drugged and Solomon taken in the night while he was sleeping. Another way was that they both had a network of people helping them escape and be free people. For solomon in the 1800’s it was called the Underground railroad were Harriet tubman and others let slaves short term stay in their houses on their journey to freedom. For Vannak he had a network of abolitionist who did their best very similar to the Underground to stop slavery or human trafficking. At the end to get the message out about slavery one wrote an autobiography showing what happened during the years of his slavery and the drawn pictures to illustrate what happened to him during his years of slavery. In the video it says ,’’I wanted the people of Cambodia and everyone else to know , I wanted to share my story.’’

One way is both where looking for work to support their families and then were sold into slavery. Solomon was drugged while Vannak was kidnapped and put in the back of a truck. They had no communication to the outside world at all. Another example is both had a network of people to bring them to freedom. Solomon had the underground railroad help him but Vannak had a network of people help him out of his predicament. Both also had corrupt people bring them back to slavery. Finally, to get out the message about slavery one wrote a book about it and the other drew pictures of his experience. They both had their own way of using paper to tell their stories. In conclusion both had extremely similar experiences and slaves and have many more similarities in their experiences of being enslaved.

Solomon and Vannak encountered many similarities with human trafficking or being kidnapped. One way their are similar is both of them started looking for jobs, and when they were offered into a job, it was just a trick. One of them was drugged and forced onto a truck. And other was just kidnapped and taken without a fight. They both were tricked into human trafficking with really no way out. They were cut off of any communication towards people. Another one of their similarities is if they wanted to get out of their condition, they couldn’t. Even if they went to the police, most of them are helping the kidnappers. So they will simply just return you back to where you were. Most of them were also in the middle of nowhere. Many people just focus on money. And human trafficking is a good way of making it as well. So people would give police some money to shut them up, and sadly it worked for the kidnappers. They could keep the people from escaping and not have to worry about getting a consequence for it. Both men faced many years of trafficking and share their stories through paper. They want to show how important it is to stop kidnapping and trafficking. And then people won’t have to relate to the two men and their experiences.

Another thing is they had people who helped them for example Vannak was told to do this and that so he wouldn’t get back into the whole ordeal and Solomon gave letters to his family and someone picked him up. Finally they both were freed and told their story in some sort of way Solomon wrote a book and Vannak drew pictures because he couldn’t read or write well. Solemn had a book written for him and Vannak drew pictures of what happened. They were both free and kidnapped into slavery while looking for work. Vannack accidentally crossed the border and he was picked up by someone who wanted to take away his freedom and make him a slave.

Solomon and Vannak's experiences with slavery are similar in many ways. The first

Way that these experiences are similar is by how they were both looking for work. They both needed work to support their families. Then they were both kidnapped while looking for a job, and were sold into slavery by human trafficking. Another way that these slavery experiences are similar is by how they both had a network of people or ways to help them escape. Vannak had a friend who had experience and told him to lie about being kidnapped, and say he was an illegal immigrant. That would put him into jail, and then be deported back to his country. Solomon was helped by a lawyer who lived in his hometown. He came and lead him to his freedom. If it weren’t for these ways, these men may have not been able to escape, because they would have been too afraid to escape by themselves. The end similarities in these experiences is that they both used some type of way to let people know about their experiences. Solomon wrote his journey on paper and it became an autobiography. Vannak drew pictures on paper of his time on the boat enslaved. These ways showed others how bad slavery really is, by how they are described and illustrated. These are ways that these two experiences are similar by how their slavery happened, and what they did to resolve their conflict of being a slave through human trafficking.

Solomon and Vannak experiences with slavery are similar in many ways. In one way that they are similar is that they were born free men but they needed to find a way to get more money to support their families when they found out to get more money they were tricked and kidnapped, which leads into them getting sold into slavery, in the video Solomon got a job and the people was going to take him to Washington DC which they all paid for but they went out for drinks and someone put a drug that makes him go to sleep and woke up chained and being sold. In the video Vannak had to get money for his pregnant wife and a guy came up to him saying “where is he going?” and he answered that he was looking for a job, he only said that there were only jobs across the border and when he did he got kidnapped. Another way that they similar is that they both had a network of people who helped them escape like Solomon had the underground railroad to go back home and the north. Vannak had people that helped him with a plan to escape from slavery, the plan was that he lied saying that he was an illegal immigrant and they sentenced him for 3 months but took 7 months, when he got out they sent him back home and that was the plan. In the end they both wanted to share their story of being a slave but Solomon wrote a autobiography that is called “12 years of slavery” and now it is a movie that you can watch. Vannak drew pictures of the event because he didn’t have good reading skills or writing skills. Slavery was banned a long time ago but there are still slaves around the world so help in any way to find a solution so you or your family members don’t be a slave to anyone.

Solomon Northrup and Vannak Prum’s experiences with slavery are similar in many ways. One way they are the same, is they were both lookng for a job, kidnapped and then sold into slavery. Solomon was trying to make some for money for his family, so he went looking for a job. He was told by a man there was jobs at the capitol. So he went, got tricked, and was sold into slavery. Vannak Prum was trying to find a job for his family. He thought he found a job but was tricked into going in a truck and taken away. This shows they were both tricked into slavery by trying to find a job. Another reason is they both had a network of people who helped them. Solomon had carpenter right him a letter and a sheriff and lawyer set him free. Vannak had an authority from his home country and authorities help set him free. This shows they both had people helping the get free. The final similarity is they showed about what happened to them and what slavery is in their own way. Solomon wrote a book and Vannak painted picture to show what happened to them. In the end slavery is a bad thing and needs to be stop. This two stories have similarities about dealing with slavery.

Solomon and Vannak’s experiences with slavery are similar in many ways.

One way is that they were both looking for work and were drugged/kidnapped by men they did not know.In Solomon’s way that he was kidnapped in the video it says that “two men that he did not know said they were looking for a person to play a part in a “show” “ When he made the decision of doing this “job” he sealed his fate in what can end in his slavery. In Vannak’s way he was kidnapped it says in the video “I met a motorbike taxi driver and he told whenever you want to come home I’ll be the one who’ll pick you up I said I don’t believe it and he arrived around 5:00 P.M. and he ate with natives and men told them to get in the back of a car lying down and then they were covered with a tarp.” When he made this decision it also sealed his fate that would end in his slave life. Another way is that they had a network of people that helped them escape. In the video it states “The man who helped Solomon was a lawyer named Salmon P Chase.” This would prolong the story by influencing other people to help people who are involved in human trafficking. Vannak got his freedom from sharing his ideas from the video because he could not read or write well. This would probably also influence other to help those in need. In the end they got their message out in their own way to be freed. Solomon asked one of his friends to write a letter to someone who might help. Vannak got free by drawing pictures so people can understand his story. In conclusion, we should help people and end human trafficking.

Solomon and Vannak experiences with slavery are similar in many ways. One way they were similar was that they both were looking for work to support their families but were kidnapped and sold into slavery, Vannack wanted to support his wife who was pregnant, and they did not have enough money so he went looking for a job, he met a taxi driver and was taken to a truck placed in the back, and sold into slavery. Solomon was different he was trying to get money to support his family, he found a man who told him that there was a job in Washington D.C. He went there and got knocked out, he woke up and realized that he became a slave even though he was born a free man. husbands/fathers were slaves. Another way that the men's experiences were similar was that they both had a newtowork of people who helped them escape, for Vannak it was the people who sold him who helped him escape by telling him that he should tell the police he was an illegal immigrant. Upon doing so he was put in jail and set free. For Solomon it was the people working against slavery who were able to eventually set him free. In the end to get the message out Solomon wrote an autobiography, and shared it with others the message became known and a movie was wrote about him it was called 12 years a slave. Vannak had drew pictures of his experiences so people who saw it may be influenced, he also told stories about his experiences and he hoped to influence people to fight against human trafficking, and it worked. Because of these reasons these men had similar experiences with slavery and they hoped to get rid of it.

Solomon and Vannak’s experiences with slavery are similar in many ways. Both of these men shared many of the same experiences. One way these two shared the same experiences is they were bothing looking for work. They ended up getting taken, and kidnapped. Both had no idea what was going on. They both eventually got sold into slavery. This was a problem for the two since Vannak had a family and Solomon was a free man, who knew his rights. Both man knew that they were free, except they didn’t understand what was happening. They came from different parts of the world where things are different. Salomon came from New York. He wanted to support his family. He decided one day to go out to look for a job. A man offered him a job, he accepted it. He was told they were going to the capital, which he always wanted to see, and that he started now. His journey to Washington was perfect. When he arrived on the other hand, his boss wanted to get him drunk. He had a few drinks, then declined the rest. He woke up the next morning, feeling like his head was going to burst. He knew there was people coming in and out of his room. He went back to sleep, and when he awoke from his slumber, he had chains around his wrists and ankles. He was now enslaved. Vannak was out looking for a job to help support his family. His wife, pregnant with their child, was left at home. He seen a man in a carriage. The man offered him a job. He accepted it. The man took him right away. The new man took Vannak to an unknown area. In the bed of a truck, him and others piled up and squeezed tightly together, like sardines. The bed of the truck was covered with a black tarp. The area they were in had no windows. Everyone who was in the truck was told if they escaped they would be killed. Nobody knew where they were going. Eventually, they arrived in a new location and were given new clothes. Everyone was told to get on a boat and was told they could not escape. From this point on, Vannak knew he was enslaved. Another way the two are similar is because they both had a network of people who helped them escape from slavery. Solomon had a man who allowed him to get letters sent to people in his town. He was told it would take about 4 weeks to receive an answer. At about 10 weeks, there was no answer. He began to get worried. Soon enough, a man from his town arrived. This man was a lawyer and his objective was to set Salomon free. Vannak had many struggles before becoming a free man. He escaped the boat by jumping overboard at midnight. After he jumped overboard, he went to the police. They only had him become enslaved again. A man came to the station to get him, he became enslaved again and this happened once more before he went to a palm oil plantation. There was a fight the broke out, a man slashed one of Nanak's friend with a knife. Vannak got slashed in the collar bone when trying to help a friend he made. When they escaped, Vannak got a hold of a phone of a phone and contacted officials in Cambodia. Vannak got the news that he would be able to go back home, but in order to get home, he must lie. He was getting coached to lie to the officials. The day of his trial, he was sentenced three months in prison for being an illegal immigrant. He was actually in prison for five months. After the five months was over, he was sent back home. In the end, both men got to share their life challenges and experiences. Solomon went home to see his family again. His daughter didn’t recognize him. But had a son in the time he was gone. She decided to name it after him to honor him. When Salomon seen the rest of his family, everyone was in shock. They were all so happy. He shared his story by writing a book called “Twelve Years a Slave”. This book shared all of his personal struggles and the events that he experienced. When Vannak arrived home, his wife refused to take him. She thought that since he was gone for a while, she believed that he was cheating on her. He didn’t. Eventually, he seen his new child, who was now six, and everyone lived peacefully. He decided to show his story using pictures. He drew all of the tragic events that he has experienced, hoping to help people understand how bad human trafficking really is.

Solomon and Vannak experiences with slavery are similar in many ways. One way in which they were similar includes how they were both looking for work for the greater good of their family. However they were then unfortunately kidnapped and sold into slavery. Where with Solomon, as he tried make some money for his family he was told that the job was at the capitol and so went he got tricked and sold into slavery. While Vannak too was trying to find a job to help his family and so thinking that he had a job he was soon tricked into getting in the back of a truck as they were taken away.

Another similarity would be how they both luckily had a network of people who helped them escape. Such as how Solomon first had the help of the carpenter to send a letter and a lawyer from his hometown named Salmon P. Chase to save him. While Vannak escapes as he soon comes in contact with the officers from his country. Who told him that they couldn’t outlaw a law but could help him, and by doing this the officers told him to lie about being a legal immigrant so that he’d be sent to jail and later back to his home and family in Cambodia.

In the end, they both even found out a way to let out the message of slavery. Where according to the video, Solomon writes an autobiography with the help of a local since his purpose was so that whoever reads his book will get a true picture of the evil of slavery. Which was known as “12 years of slavery”. Meanwhile Vannak lets out his message of slavery through pictures and paintings because of how his reading and writing wasn’t so well. Though in conclusion, they both had many similarities but looking at these two experiences it shows that you too should help others who are in need as well. Where in this case, we should help end human trafficking.

Both Solomon and Vannak were free men and had good lives except for the fact that they needed jobs. So they went out looking for them and they both came across guys offering them jobs, so they went with them and started to realize that things aren't they way they should be. In the video it was talking about how Solomon was sent on a ship heading somewhere and the only space he had was at the bottom of a boat with many other people squished together laying down. All of them were handcuffed together. The video also talked about how Vannak was forced into the trunk of a truck with a black tarp over them so nobody would see. Then they went to a house where they were then sent to a boat and trapped there, working for the person without being paid, far away from there families. Another reason why they are similar is because they both had a group of people that helped then escape. In the video it was saying how Solomon had a couple of people that helped him escape by talking to him and letting him send letters to people. Also in the video it said that Vannak had a group of people that helped him after he made that phone call in the hospital. This group helped him in court and told him to lie so then he would go to jails for a couple of months and then be sent back home. In the end, these two people were similar because they both had a way to tell their stories of how they escaped. In the video Salomon wrote letters and kept a diary which eventually turned into a book, and Vannak drew pictures of what he was going through because he couldn’t write and comprehend things as well. Even with their two different motivating stories on how they escaped being kidnapped and sold into slavery, there are still many similarities and things you can learn from fro their stories.

Solomon and Vannak’s experience with slavery are similar in many ways. One way would be that Solomon and Vannek were both looking for work to support their family, but when they do, things take a turn. They are both kidnapped and sold into slavery. Prum says “ They took a black tarp and covered us with it so the police would not see us” while Northrup says “I was alone in a darkness and I had chains around my wrists and ankles”. Another similarity would be that both men had a network of people to help them escape from slavery. Solomon said “A man from my hometown and he had come all the way from my hometown too free me” and Vannak says “I put it on a canvas too see if it would impact him”. At the end, to get to the message about one wrote an autobiography while the other drew pictures. They both got their message out and it could’ve impacted people. Watching, reading, or even writing a narrative can make you feel emotionally connected to the story. There are many other similarities as well that make readers understand.
