Engineers apply the principles of science and mathematics to develop economic solutions to technical problems. The work conditions are noisy and at times, could be dirty. Work times are also unpredictable as well, you might have to go in on the weekends even if you call an off day. You must obtain a Bachelor's Degree from a school accredited by the Accreditation Board. You must also have at least 4 years of work experience in engineering. The work average is 40-hours each week, no shift work. Some positive features are that it pays very well and it opens up many job opportunities. Conducts Environmental inspections, including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)/Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Construction General Permit TXR 150000, Stormwater Quality pre and post installation inspections and other EPA/TCEQ inspections as required. Meets with owners, developers, contractors, engineers, general public, and government entities in response to inquiries, applicable regulations and technical questions. Inspects permitted construction sites for the required EPA/TCEQ permits, a complete and implemented stormwater pollution prevention plan, current site self-inspections and other required documents. Performs electronic record keeping activities to maintain filling system, reports, photographs and other documentation. Investigates violations and participates in enforcement activities including writing citations and court appearances. Participates in disaster recovery activities after manmade or natural emergency events. This can include preliminary damage assessments, substantial damage declarations and rendering aid. Performs other duties as assigned.
