         <description><![CDATA[<div>The reason that I pick this novel is because it shows the differences in thinking between today and the 1840's. What I mean by this is that racism was much more preventive in those times. Not to say that there isn't racism today, it is no where near as bad as it was back then. African Americans were literally viewed as nothing more than farm equipment. </div>]]></description>
