Response: “I understand that you’ve been busy. How can I help you to utilize your free time more productively? Let’s start with a plan to help you with future homework!”

Teacher Response: I understand how difficult it can be to perform a SWOT analysis for a company. Let’s start by choosing a company and learning more about them. I would love to sit down and work on this with you during study hall today. You can do this, I believe in you!

teacher response- “Let’s practice some problems before we take the test, I know you can do it!”

Teacher: “I understand it feels like a lot, but sometimes things just take a little longer to do and we have to take our time in order to get it right. “

I understand why you might feel that way, and even if you don’t use this exact information again after this class, the process of learning and thinking through to a solution will certainly translate to other parts of your life.

Teacher: “Let’s try one step at a time. Where can we start?”

Teacher: “I’m sorry you feel this way, I understand there are lots of steps to solve this type of problem. It was tricky for me my first time learning this, as well. I would love to create a mini anchor chart that matches our big class one and we can tape it to your desk to help you follow each step. Let’s give this a try and see how it works.”

While I understand that Science may not be your favorite subject, there are strengths that you have that will lead you to success in my class. My goal is to make you comfortable in my space and help you learn to love the content.

Teacher Response: “it might not seem important now, but if you just try your best you’ll end up learning something new. It might be difficult to think of your future so young, but learning new things in school might help you find something you’re interested in!”

Teacher response: “It can be difficult to learn a new language, but the more you practice, the more the words will start to come to you! Study a few words each night and you will start to memorize them!”

Response: I know how frustrating it can be to continue to struggle with something. Do you want to take a quick break, and when you come back we can work together?

“Let’s work together on some things in your art project that you’d like to improve on”

Me: You’re in luck, I can help with getting you going - what’s the question showing you?

Response- “I understand! It’s hard for me to understand sometimes too. How about in class today we focus on some strategies to help you comprehend.”

Teacher Response: If you’re tired why don’t you get a drink of water and take a short walk. Then when you get back I want you to try your best on the notes with us and ask me questions or your peers questions when you have them. You are capable of understanding this.

I told my student that he could do it because we talked about the words and how to pronounce them as a group. You can ask me if you have questions but I know you can do this!
